Unless they wrote something wrong, yes. I mean, the message I got was very clear. I know it's still available in the US but it seems they don't produce any more - so when it's gone, it's gone.

Kinda sad. But if you hide such versatile kits in the boxed games section instead of going 'great terrain for your 40k and Kill Team games' it's not that surprising.

What the hell, gw is the worst with terrain. The ZM, imperual city ruins and pipe lines should be available all the time

I was able to find the platform/stairs kit at cmogames.com but it was their last one.
They've gotta be out there in the ash wastes of interwebs.

Alright, well, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Found a place that still had 'em in stock, so bought the 4 I wanted. Also picked up a walls and platforms/stairs pack as well to augment the two Dark Uprising sets I have.

Now all I need is 3 sets of the platforms to make my '2Fort' board, and we're set.

UK site still has them listed, just with OOS. I don't see why these would be OOP.

I know, the stronghold is marked with OOS in Germany too. But they did send me the mail I quoted on the last page:

I really don't understand what's the deal with GWs terrain. They waste crazy amount of resources designing great terrain kits, producing expensive moulds for them, then they make couple of boxes them and discontinue the kit. I really don't understand how this makes any sense.

A lot of it isn't done in-house - it's produced in China (I'll check my ZM boxes later). I'd guess the supply chain is still screwy.

OK, that explains it. They should really sort this out though; it is super annoying. Produce in UK if China is such a hassle.

I think the panic is unwarranted, the forever out of stock ZM tiles were just restocked (UK) including indy distribution. Some shlub mail order troll not being able to find stock doesn't mean anything.

It’s just showing as Not Available on the U.K. website.

I’m intrigued to find out if Dryaktalus’ quote email is just an automation whoopsie, and perhaps another was meant to be sent to them.

Guess time will tell. Still a pain in the arse whichever way we butter it.

Yeah, we will see. As I said, I bought two boxes from another shop (already got them - they're made in UK btw).

GW's order is on the way, without the stronghold but with that Primaris sergeant even if I'm now at 130€.

So they can pull a Dominion terrain twist on us and sell the parts individually for more money. Really, haven't we learned this yet? They know people are crazy for this stuff so they sell out of it which clears any remaining stock in the distribution chain and then can increase margins as they sell the same amount of product using 4 skus instead of 1.

Because they are still limited in what they can produce in the UK. I haven't heard if the power issue has ever been resolved from expanding the plant or not, but it seems that with the tremendous growth they achieved in the last couple years even the newer facility upgrades are not keeping up. Plus contracts with outside firms take time to put into place and to dissolve. While GW may want to bring the terrain boxes back into production in the UK, the molds/machines are over in China. It's not too likely that they could call the Chinese factory and ask them to UPS the molds to them because they are severing the contract, and expect them to willingly or quickly send them in one piece. Yes, they could just cut new molds, but i'm sure their bean counters would come up with different numbers than anyone else here on Dakkadakka could to say it wouldn't be worth it.

Hopefully they will have a new set that works alongside these previous sets out "Soon"

I seem to recall that Privateer Press had problems with their factory in China not releasing the moulds for their plastic when things didn't go well.

FOMO is nasty business innit.

Just in case, I was going to grab the last two Strongholds on Kutami.de and someone else snagged one right from my cart while I was confirming payment.

Yeah, also Dreamforge Games deal with the factory let the factory keep the molds if he did not pay back a crazy amount, so his new stuff with Wargames Atlantic is all recut. The tablescapes tiles I believe were of a similar nature too.

China was a great boost for gaming for a long time, but the current Pandemic and political situation along with economic problems has really destroyed a bunch of connections. Who knows how much GW stock is stuck in ports across the globe currently.

Incidentally: I was at Miniature Markets retail store last week and they had gotten a HUGE restock finally. Their GW wall was overflowing. An employee was talking about how they had like 20+ orders out with GW waiting on stock and then they all came in at one time. It had been sparse for a while. My FLGS has had other issues, mostly their own making, and haven't been able to get a restock in months with the paint being pretty well depleted. They get in the new releases, but getting any restock has been non existent for months.

Yeah it is. I don't usually suffer from fomo and especially not since having a printer, the number of ZM pieces available is immense, I thought I'd never be buying terrain again given how much I already have and how much more I can print. Something about those stronghold towers though, makes me want to buy another box.

If they tried to pull a FOMO, they would've pushed it as a limited edition really hard, wouldn't they? They might just be hideously incompetent and really bad at covering it up. Not that it haven't before.

Vigo. Spain.

Yeah, FOMO doesnt work if people don't know it is limited.

I hope the store I bought them from really did have that many in stock. They wouldn't let me add any more, so maybe that's a good sign.

No this FOMO is Dakka home grown, not a GW plot. Literally this thread psyching itself up that stuff is going out of print. And then me going "naw guys you're reading too much into things but I'll order it just in case...."
