The new characters are great. I just wish they were plastic and not $30-40 each. It would be awesome to have a hanger's on kit - it could even be an upgrade sprue like the weapons packs. That new slipper makes me want the old Man-eater cook model even more too.

Nicely done with the characters yet again.

Note that these support characters are rarely used on the table, and when they are, they play a very minor role.

There are so many hangers-on to choose from now, not sure if these are even worth taking considering the alternatives? Some will be powerful and used often, others will be less usefull....

It’s also why the GM should be ready to step in should any one gang really start running away with things. For instance, I see nothing wrong in allowing two or more gangs to form a temporary alliance to bring the Leading Gang down a peg or two.
I mean, Oldcromunda had an Underdog Bonus for these sorts of things, but yeah, you could have gangs run away with thing.

One of these many many books they sold has some serious underdog bonuses in it.

 Mad Doc Grotsnik wrote:
In Necromunda, it’s not uncommon for a gang or two to have a really good streak.

Not just winning their games (largely player skill, nowt wrong with that), but also not losing any gang members, good fortune when seeking rare items, rolling high when determining income. The last three are of course a matter of luck rather than skill. They can see the beneficiary gang become more skilled, better armed and equipped than their peers through sheer luck.

And it’s also entirely possible for someone to have a really, really rough couple of games, such as their Leader and Champions all getting proper dead, having bad luck influenced restricted income etc.

Should the GM encourage or heavily interfere? Probably not, no. But they should allow the other gangs to do as they will. Be permissive when it comes to such things, not restrictive.

Allowing other gangs to team up, however temporarily, also adds to the drama and tension. What bargain was struck? How might the other gangs react to such an alliance?

The GM should absolutely step in to help a gang that's been kicked into the dumpster. This is a game, it's supposed to be fun for eeeeeveryone. Not just the people on a hot streak

 Mad Doc Grotsnik wrote:
I respectfully disagree.

Necromunda is at its best when it’s a GM managed campaign.

Also, if players are WAACing Necromunda? I’d wager they’ve rather missed the point. Certainly I don’t think they’d much enjoy my take on it.

Necromunda is as much an RPG as it is a TTG. If you’re just playing to win, and not get involved in the story being told? You’re missing out on a load of the fun.

All just my opinion of course!

One of the GM's most important jobs is ensuring everyone going INTO the campaign is on the same page of starting power levels

Baxx wrote:
Who perpares everything? Who works to make sure you have fun?`Sounds like a random person to me! I've played many campaigns/leagues without any person preparing anything. No single person's responsibility that everyone has fun. Some digitally, some tabletop.

To me this sounds like "I only care about having fun, feth everyone else". I hope without a tinge of "Ruining other people's fun is what is the most fun for me"

Ok, going to have to get these guys to hang out in the market place, along with the existing ratling slopper.

Also, that’s not just a plasma pistol, it’s an Imperially sanctioned plasma pistol with purity seal!

Yep. I wouldn't buy any of the FW sculpts just for the rules. And usually you can use them as something else in the game.

A great sculpt is a great sculpt. The use you choose to give to it, is on you and just you, that has nothing to do with the piece.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment it's kind of moot due to the aforementioned fact that they're FW.

That scabber sculpt is superb, way better than the Outcast gang sculpt.

The article mentions that they'll be packed together on release, so they'll be a bit on the cheaper side of Forgeworld stuff.

How does them being FW affect whether they're a great sculpt or not?

It affects it due to the fact most of the models will be highly inferior versions of the master.

It means they'll be ignored by the vast majority, even those that think they're nice and it would be pretty cool to have them and maybe even paint them and / or play with them. Even people that can comfortably afford them will just straight up not bother (whether on principle, or in the case of those who import from China, because of the hassle).

Yeah, I won't buy FW, even less so after Brexit.

So they're pretty pictures, and basically nothing else.

The scabber looks great and the slopper is the right amount of unnerving.

I'm down for the scabber but Bigby Crumm is the slopper for me.

I'm one of the most negative nancies here, but even I'm starting to roll my eyes at how 50% of all new specialist game reveal posts are "no plastic = no buy."

Yeah it's getting quite old now...
I would prefer it if they were in plastic, but that's not as big of an issue as it used to be. Out of all the FW resin stuff I've purchased only 1 set of doors were jacked up & they shipped me out a replacement quickly.

So you're gonna buy these then I assume. Right?

Right?

Many people can get these at 100% fidelity and 33% price and they still won't go through the hassle. I say this from experience. I'm definitely one to omit a groan everytime I see a FW release these days. Just ditch that arm of GW already please, put it (and we the consumer) out of its misery.

Or they'll be twice the price. Although if they are packaged together they'll probably be around the same as all the other groupings. They are awesome sculpts, at nearly the cost of a gang box its way too much. The man-eater I mentioned earlier isn't any cheaper tho so - decisions decisions.

I second the motion to ditch FW and call for them to combine it with the regular GW releases!

8 Different heads but with 3 sprues that's 24 so plenty of spares. More heads aren't hard to come by with eBay and all the bits sites. I'm definitely going to use some of the new Cadian Shock Troop heads.

Personally I'm more disappointed by the lack of doubles for weapons but with kitbashing and bits stores again it shouldn't be a problem.

Funny, because I didn't say that. I did say "FW only = no buy", though.

It is kind of what happens when half your game is distributed one way and the other half another way. Some people might not want to deal with that another way.

Just buy a GW Neophytes kit. Cheap as anything since they're abundant in the SC, 2-3x more options than this kit, and look at least twice as good.

Besides the price and FW well theres that thing called resin that really doesn't like thin fragile parts... that alone is a deal breaker as much was finecast low quality casting.

Dont see any problem people not wanting to deal with that and to be honest its as Old as someone posting I will buy it...
