So I got my count as acastus painted, the ole reliable mechanicum heavy gunship. Got a shot of it with the rest of the mechanicum family. And some scale shots with the asterius, it's a bit short but I might be able to get a higher flight stand. Also re-based the thanatars, gonna use them as armiger/moirax. Also, a friend gave me some dropzone commander models, thought they looked fairly mechanicum ish so I painted them up in the same scheme as support craft terrain. The apc's a bit big but seems to match. Also updated an older terrain piece with some crates and cargo servitors from bits blitz designs. The gunship is from vanguard miniatures, The thanatars are by miffles makes stuff and the crawlers are by the lazy forger.

Given that I got the the mechanicum heavy gunship painted I thought I'd update the count as terminal for it and also fix a small type error. I figured I'd do one for the smaller crawlers on 50mm bases, so I edited the cerastus knight atrapos terminal. Behold the Orion Class Crawler Banner. Again its just count-as atrapos but a bit re-imagined. The idea is they have a big gyro-stabilized high velocity macro bolter that the operator is pretty much attached to. They're designed to defend ordinatus from enemy titans, they target big titan's center of gravity with their main guns to try and knock them off target. The shells are high velocity bolter rounds that are graviticly-weighted so they hit like a battle tank is being lobbed from orbit. On the frron they have magnacutters than can melt titan legs if they can get up close. Lastly I'm re-posting the terminal for the ordinatus crawler. It's a count as warhound terminal. Obviously you don't want to spring these on opponents as both models are smaller than the models they're proxying in for. The crew are vanguard and the models are from the lazy forger.

Well I was happy to see my other vanguard order came in. First up is the count as armigers for the crons. Now sadly these guys are shorter than an armiger, but I doubled them up on the bases, this also sorta account for an armiger having 2 hull points. Th plan is just to play them as if they're the right height for los purposes, if need be i can swap in an armiger to check los. Secon up some count armigers for mechanicum, these are going to be the dual autocannon ones. Lasty the cool hover tank/transport. It's big enough to hold a shipping crate, can't quite hold the rhino, just thought it was a good shot for scale. Plan is to use it as terrain mostly.

Just need a mild day so I can prime them.

So the warmaster "iconoclast" was a bit of a sore point for me. This configuration isn't exactly rules legal as the iconoclast is cc only but gw be damned this looks cool. The top gun is by artisans of vaul and the arm I found on cults3d. The arm is basically a giant ram, it moves freely in it's housing and can extend quite a distance.

The scarabs basically operate like the spiders, sorta look like them too a bit till the wings spread out at the back. I figure in game terms they act like the necron titan's servitor clades, buzzing around helping to dissolve battlefield wrecks to help feed the living metal's repair.

So I got the shanty's and the satellite dish painted. Really stoked on these, they give me sort of a half life 2 vibe for some reason. The satellite dish is pure nostalgia for the movie contact, but also a great piece of los blocking terrain from certain angles.

So got the first game in with the count as necron titans. Got my butt handed to me pretty good by the legio fureans. We played 2000pts, I ran the list I posted back on page 11 https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/300/787202.page#11262191 The only change is I took elite magos instead of masters of defence. The final score was I believe 4vp to 9vp for the tiger eyes. We both had corrupted titans, I had 3 and he had 2, his leader's reaver and the warlord. My opponent also tried out the warlord volkite, a bit pricey but it performed well. Beam is really reliable.

An enemy warhound cut down my reaver pretty hard with a good series of shots from its left flank. One of my warhounds (spiders) took down one of his reaver on the right flank but it took a good lashing from it and was finished off by another warhound in the backfield.

Both my warlord and warbringer basically just held back and fired as much as they could at my opponent's princeps seniores's reaver and the warlord luring next to it. They also had a void shield relay helping keep their voids up. I made the mistake of moving my warbringer, which decouples it from the array basically means that even though its still within 2, because it moved it loses the re-roll for that turn. The enemy leader's reaver took more punishment than any titan I've ever seen in this game, made it all the way to my lines, repaired both of its chainfists and hacked down my warbringer before detonating. The fureans also lost their warlord when its reactor went nuclear through a series of bad luck. The two remaining warhounds moved to secure both their own vital objective and the central objective, scoring 7vp for that, 4 for the vital and 3 for the cental, also an additional 2 for killing my princeps seniores when they took out its warlord titan. I had 2vp from killing their princeps seniores and 2vp for taking out their battlefield assets (stomped on some of their titan hunter infantry).

Table was interesting, the massive pyramid really helps break up the battlefield, it makes me want to build a few mega structures like maybe a hive built out of a big volcano or just some big elevated town/village. A lot of the small terrain and the trees were 100% destructible, we played it as basically if the base moves over or ends on just remove the little scatter terrain or base of trees. Also errant blasts we'd pull whatever scatter terrain was underneath. It's basically a fun to help push scale and make the board look nice without being obtrusive. The trees actually offer decent cover until someone steps on them so it works pretty well and feels fluffy with blast that scatter at least taking out some trees.

I think i rolled a total of once for plaything of the gods, it's perhaps not the best sample of its potential usefulness, but elite magos was far more useful overall. I may consider swapping it out of it doesn't end feeling very "living metal". Also, a lot of my issues weren't on the track but heat or void shield related so that's why elite magos and frozen soul proved far more useful overall. The fureans warlord had an extra couple dice for repair, basically the same amount of dice a warmaster would throw, pretty cool, might look into that mutation, although its not cheap, like 50pts I think.

So the count-as necron are done, finally finished the last of them, the count-as armigers. Took a few "action shots" vs my buddy's legio fureans. Looking forward to a re-match soon, I've slightly modified my 2000pt list, also hoping to have a bigger game with more the knights.

Necron List 2000pts

Traits: Plaything of the Gods, Elite Magos

Wargear: Tracking Gyroscopes, Macro Charges

Axiom Battleline Maniple

Warhound Titan - 240pts
Plasma Blastgun, Vulcan Megabolter
Macro Charges

Warhound Titan – 240pts
Plasma Blastgun, Vulcan Megabolter
Macro Charges

Reaver Titan – 345pts
Melta cannon, Chainfist, Vulcan Megabolter
Overwhelming Rage, Daemonic Bile

Warlord Titan – 525pts
Belicossa Volcano Cannon, Sunfury Plasma Annihilator, Paired Turbolaser Destructors
Tracking Gyroscopes, Singular Purpose
Frozen Soul

Princeps Seniores Corrupted Titan Personal Trait: Distorted Form

Aux Titan Reinforcement

Warbrinber Nemesis Titan – 510pts
Belicossa Volcano Cannon, Volcano Cannon, Volcano Canon
Tracking Gyroscopes, Macro Charges x2, Singular Purpose
Frozen Soul

Knight Styrix Banner – 140pts
4x Hekaton Siege Claws

Here's everything I've got done so far, I figure I can get it to around 3000pts, it'd be adding a porphyrion, 3 atrapos, 4 more dual claw styrix and 6 armigers with thermal spear/ccw and meltaguns, it might be just more than 3000pts.

I had a buddy print 3 of malika's new buildings for me, he also slightly modified the files to add lettering to a few of the signs, as well as some bottles to the hab workers hands. Really stoked with how these turned out. There's lot of little details like barrels and crates scattered around the buildings, as well as little keypads near the doors and ac units on the roofs. They fit really well with the lazy forger shanty's. I love the whole titan mechanics or dockworkers finishing a shift and doing a beer run on one of the repair carts. My fav detail was the guys drinking on the stoop with one having passed out and fallen down the steps. There's a bunch of other buildings I wanna do, really great stuff.

So I try and be pragmatic about new releases, they've been a mixed bag. There's is a tendency at time for at players to feel as though because we get so few releases relative to other gw/fw games the proper "attitude" is a mixture of elation and counting one's blessings. It lets gw/fw off the hook, and it's ever another excuse to yell at the heretics who don't fawn over the latest previewed release and remind them they can just not buy ect ect, passive aggressive fanboy politics aside, the new model just isn't a hit with me. The dire wolf sadly looks like a kit bash, many friends I sent a pic of it to didn't believe it was an official fw release. The head is the biggest problem, I understand they wanted to call it dire wolf and have it be related somehow to the warhounds but it's pretty un-inspired. Long story short, it's ugly but it's rules may have something interesting to offer. I think the biggest critique I have is, if the plan was to base it off the hound, why wasn't this a hybrid kit for the plastic hounds to up armour and convert into? The missed opportunity of having some cross polination weapons-wise with the warhound makes the whole design and concept extra puzzling. I don't mean to be flippant but my thought was "oh it's like a warbringer but stupider", and I say because at least a warbringer has a lot of potential loadouts given it can take the reaver arm guns. So you'd think it would have been similar, again, you know, modular game where we're supposed to decide a titan's combat role based on how we, the player, deem to arm our respective god machines.

Anyway, I've ben eyeing this for a while and when god gives you lemons you find a new god, so here's my count as direwolf conversion. I went sorta less armoured, i also messed up the thigh armour hand put it on the wrong way so gotta fix that. The kit has more armour but the more you add, the more chaos/traitor it looks, it starts to look more and more like a brass scorpion sorta. So I went with no armour on the "tail" for now and added an aquila from a guard tank kit to the top of the carapace to make it look more loyalist. The head choice, my thought is the head is full of hard wired gun/targetting servitors and the princeps sits in the torso along with the tech priest/magos, the crew are from vanguard. The arms are magnetized, so future proof if there are indeed other weapon options not previewed. The top is obviously counting as the neutron blaster. Hopefully we'll get to see more of it's rules/terminal soon enough.

I managed to get he upside down thigh armour off. Thinking of maybe giving it quad cannons. Played around with the shoulder armour, still think it looks best without it but it doesn't look terrible in one of the configurations. Looking forward to painting the laser chicken soon.

Speculation is it will return in some other form, they've had a lot of disruption with stuff out of china. But it doesn't look good in the short term, all the more reason to get troublemaker games or grmidark terrain stuff I guess.
