Jeez... I actually had forgotten about Siege of the Citdael. I went all in on that too.

Maybe some day I'll still receive it...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Yeah, the waiting for this failure of KS is irritating, especially after spending many hours looking for all the errors and knowing that they did not even bother to update the PDFs.

Well, here's hoping the Tribes are actually still in the game. IIRC, Modiphus butchered them out in favour of bland Mother Russia stuff in the RPG line.

They are still there-check the Dark Eden book for MC3. White Star is an addition that does not replace the known tribes. There are also other new forces introduced around the globe, like the mutant tribes of South America or Akash clans of India etc.

Oh my dear sweet summers child.

An unknown company doing a kickstarter? In plastic too? If we see anything it will be trenchers vs zombies with a couple of Brotherhood dudes and demons.

If we see anything...

Huh, the source book must have been released after I dropped the line. The ancient aliens did it plot line was a little too much for me.

Alas not.

Your answer - it has confused me.

Are you saying that Prodos/Archon/etc. *are* involved?

Or, are you saying they're not involved, but you wish that they...were?

And don't forget about the AWESOME Dark Eden ccg from back in the day. Never cared much for the Warzone ccg, but Dark Eden was great fun.

I hope that White Star becomes more fleshed out in the next edition, and perhaps more on the various tribes. Also, is is possible for the new owners to make Mishima NOT SUCK? I love the models, the lore, the designs the history but really, anybody with above average guns can take them out.

And while I reminisce about the past (1st Edition), I will never forget watching an Undead Legionnaire taking out a Mortificator in HTH combat. The Mort fumbled his attack roll, and lost all further actions. The UL rolled a Nat 20. Much anger was had at that table.

Urusei Yatsura, Cerebus the Aardvark, Machiavelli, Plato and Happy Days. So, how was your childhood?

The latter

If Prodos had suddenly found 500k down the back of the couch to renew Warzone in some form.. then a lot of the things that we had been working on might have been able to see the light of day (not to mention all those profiles we had that never got miniatures). Kirkwood would have had more time for testing and.. heck, we could have released some of the content that was bundled into Kirkwood as distinct, independent products that should have been used to pad out the physical releases.

But.. shoulda, woulda, coulda..

Don't forget, PRODOS had hard plastic stuff in the works and had even gotten as far as production for some of them. Shame they'll probably never see the light of day and I suspect these guys didn't purchase the molds.

If we see any Dark Eden tribes, I want a fleshed out Sons of Rasputin. Those guys were awesome. Aside from maybe two of them, I have the whole SoR line. Their designs were cool, but definitely let down by the sculpts.

I'd like to see some of the Megacorp stuff from dark Eden, too they had really cool designs, but never got any minis, like the Capitol Wolverines. Much cooler design in the rulebook than what we eventually got from Prodos.

Heartbreaker and Target were basically the same. Heartbreaker started off as a company that did miniatures for other games by license. Target did the rules and owned the setting, Heartbreaker did the minis but were technically a separate company. They merged completely in '97.

So Target were the originals (with Heartbreaker handling the miniature line), then it died in '99 when Target went under due to their parent company going bankrupt (they could have pulled a Paradox and kept going, but had sunk too much in to plastic production and couldn't afford the rights). A lot of ex-Target staff would go on to form iKore and do Celtos and Void.

Then Excelsior Entertainment licensed it and did a fairly good job of Chronopia, but badly mishandled Warzone. After years of delays and an ultimately disappointing edition, they ended up losing both licenses before much of anything happened with it. They tried biting off the whole thing at once instead of growing the game organically and it ended up just sort of being a curiosity only noticed by Warzone grognards.

Prince August bought up the excess stock after this and kept on selling the minis. Apparently they seem to have gotten the rights to produce the old Heartbreaker line again as they haven't run dry on minis yet (not sure when that happened, last time I bought from them stock was limited and it was hard to get some sculpts).

FFG then grabbed the rights to the minis game and around the same time another company picked up the RPG rights. FFG's attempt generally pissed off most fans because their collections wouldn't transfer due to scale change, and the game itself probably proved a bit too different from the squad-based skirmish roots to resonate much with them anyways. And when it comes to a relatively obscure property, you kind of need that established fan base to boost your signal and get new people excited. This one died quickly. On the RPG side, the company (whose name escapes me, but I also don't think they ever produced anything*) lost the license before publishing the books. Probably for the best, since they made a lot of strange setting changes like axing Cybertronic entirely (but that isn't exactly new for MC/Warzone given how much Target retconned in 2nd Edition Warzone).

The property sat for a while (bad movie notwithstanding) and eventually we reached the Prodos/Modiphius era. Modiphius did a great job on the RPG side, but Prodos fumbled hard right after their initial KS and things were all downhill from there.

So while it feels like the property is cursed and doomed, most of the post-Target attempts have also be handled relatively incompetently with only Modiphius's RPG being a counterpoint to the ineptitude. Hopefully Res Nova learns from all those mistakes and finally sticks the landing on this one, but given that I already own all the rulebooks and more minis than I know what to do with across all editions, if they screw it up then I just go back to playing house-ruled 1st Edition again.

When a game dies as much as Warzone, you just learn to love what already existed and get better and homebrewing if you want to spice it up.

* Edit - COG Games, the company was called COG Games.

Is there a breakdown of the info somewhere?

I like Bryan, I'm REALLY interested in a resurrected Warzone, but I'm not sure if I've got the 2 hours and 15 minutes reserve of patience to watch it all right now!

What happened with Age of Tyrants the 6mm stuff as well?

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

There one (1) brief shot of a Blood Beret render that wouldn't look out of place next to second (or was it third?) edition plastics.

Just so that we're clear, that's NOT a compliment.

Kev White’s 2nd Edition sculpts still look damn good. I’d prefer they stick to the over-the-top aesthetic originally established rather than reinvent the wheel. Similarity to the 2nd Edition sculpts is a big plus in my books. Every attempt to modernize the aesthetic (see Prodos’s early Bauhaus concepts for a recent example) lose the charm of the setting. Mutant Chronicles is a love letter to 2000AD that kept not taking itself seriously, and the sculpts should maintain that feel. Kev's sculpts always felt close to Bonner’s art, and I lament that he never got to give us new Venusian Rangers.

There is of course more to a reboot than one WIP render, but that at least gives me better vibes than the last attempt at a reboot.

yeah, I agree, the render shown looked like it kept first edition feel but a lot better quality in sculpt. Much better then the Prodos Bauhaus reinvisioning. I like keeping to the artwork of Bonner and Paulo Parente much more then the newer art that Prodos used. Hopefully I will like the material. They said plastic, but not pvs or hps, so I am not sure what that means.

Wasn't that Void/Metropolis/Urban War? Not Mutant Chronicles/Warzone?

Regardless, the fact we're asking 3 to 5 years later is probably the answer.

From RPGNET by @Brother Jim:
1....Classic 1st Ed. looks, but updated for modern production capabilities.
2....The 5 Megacorps [Bauhaus, Capitol, Cybertronic, Imperial and Mishima] and Algeroth's Dark Legion to start out with.
3....Brotherhood and The Cartel and the other 4 Apostles of Darkness will be added later.
4....Each force will start with two unit types available.
5....The rules may be available for free.
6....Army lists will be separate from the rules.
7....They envision tables being 3 feet x 3 feet with 60%+ of the table covered by terrain.
8....Possible Kickstarter in 2021, but only if the rules and the basic troops are done.
9....Res Nova Games doesn't have a website yet, but they're on social media @ResNovaGames.

One big thing from the section linked - The plastic Blood Beret (Space England elite trooper) they show briefly is an early render but there is a finished one they planned to give out at Adeptacon, so there is at least the beginning of a product out there.

I didn't watch the whole thing but on the part linked no mini was shown only an early render, they then say they'd planned to give it at Adepticon.

So hopefully that means they're pretty far along, far along enough to have samples in hand.

Well, yeah, I'd like that too. But keeping the original aesthetic does not prevent them from utilizing good proportions and reasonable posing.
