Just curious if they are still doing that whole thing. I feel like I have a lot of feedback to give them.

I noticed a flood of specialist games return

Don't forget with the way GW works most survey results are likely going to take several months to actually start having an evident effect and some might be only subtle changes. You will not get instant changing of policies or ideas; but instead a gradual shift toward new ideas and approaches if they feel the need to change course after a survey.

Sometimes they might only want them to more or less check that what they are doing is having a positive reaction from the playerbase at large. So they might not be looking for change, but reaffirmation that they are on the right path and that its worth continuing down that path.

It also has to get matched against things like sales data. Lots of people might ask for X but if GW already provides something along the lines toward X or something similar then they have to consider if people are asking for something they want to talk about owning; or if they are asking for something that they will actually buy.

proably pointless to do a survey during corona. If GW was smart they'll do one in 6 months to a eyars time once everything has settled.

Plastic SoB, plus the ramping up of all the specialist games coming out of FW, seems to be the result of 2017. Plastic SoB was a direct result of the 2017 survey, they announced that right afterwords and began work on the project, so we have an approximate timeframe for how long it took to realize the entire line from the survey.

Also, I would bet the plastic banshees and incubi in Blood of the Phoenix were probably the result of the 2017 survey too.

Supplements and mono-bonuses might have been a product of the 2019 survey, since it seems there was a pretty drastic shift from the CSM2.0 codex to the SM2.0 and beyond codecies, and Psychic Awakening just not following the model of Vigilus to quickly give out all those bonuses [and falling back into the realm of free bonuses for additional rulebooks]. At the very least, I think some desire for soup limitation was expressed in the 2019 survey, and I don't really see them implementing anti-soup bonuses without that impetus.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

You said you had some feedback you wanted to give GW, you could always email it to them, not sure if that’ll be productive or not.

Out of curiosity, along what sort of lines would your feedback be?

From what I recall they never published or even mentioned the results from the second one.

I was going to commend them on the amazing job they did with the Sisters of Battle, the line is just fantastic. And thank them for bringing back Warhammer Fantasy.

I was also going to ask them to start releasing more "Gothic" style Marines like Black Templars, Grey Knights and Dark Angels. I want to collect these armies, but I very much dislike the new aesthetic for the Primaris Marines.

I would also like them to rewrite 40K using USR's.

Edit: Also more Dark Eldar please.

Running two surveys two years apart doesn't actually mean that they're planning on doing one every two years... the gap between the 2017 one and the previous one was about 15 years, IIRC.

We also have to remember that they've got shop staff for direct feedback from customers to staff that way. In fact they've a LOT of avenues for feedback to get back to them - the real risk is that its not collated properly or that it is never presented to the higher-ups.

I think in the Kirby days that was an issue; we did see a management that was increasingly distant at the upper end from its customer base. My impression is that the current management team is far more aware of their customerbase and willing to react to them. Of course we have to remember that they also have to react to profits, sales, etc... and lots of other data we don't see.

Gamesworkshop is also currently closed due to a Pandemic, so that's going to delay things.

If you have feedback to GW, you don't need to wait for a survey to send them an email.

I feel with the surveys, they probably aggregate the results, and look for trends, rather then read each individual result verbatim, as there are going to be A Lot of results.

So that's why we've heard nothing after the last one. They're super busy collating the feedback! Of course!

I know the internet communities of Middlehammer and EEFL players organized an "ask for the Old World back" movement for the second one and then we got an announcement for Old World.

Not saying correlation is causation, but y'know, plastic SIsters of Battle.

Well they talked about Sisters in the results for that first survey.

For 'Old World' they just announced it and then started screaming "AM I NOT MERCIFUL!" at everyone, so it's not quite the same.

It helps, but I'm looking for all Tabards since I plan on doing Black Templars.

And I'm going to need actual close combat marines with chainswords. Lots and lots of chainswords.

I mean if for example they use feedback on us saying 40k costs too much to simply push back agaisnt the board wanting to do a yearly price hike. they're proably not going to tell us that as there's no real upside from a PR POV.

Almost any customerbase will ask for lower prices if they have to pay for a product. It's basically something you can automatically assume.

Now if GW were starting to see dwindling sales in a massive way across the board on most model lines and in most territories then "price is too high" might well be something they'd pay attention too. However whilst their factory is not able to keep up with demand, consumer requests for "lower prices" just isn't reflected as a burning need in the marketing.

Of course GW has access to all the finance info; they can see which armies are and are not selling well and can consider if price on a specific model line is higher than is tolerable based on the selling rate of other forces. Or if there are other aspects that might be at fault.

You do you, but I want more tacticool guys. The Vanguard Primaris are awesome, if Marines had looks like this from the beginning, I would probably have played them more.

More importantly, a tank that isn't a quadrillion points but is a tank. And looks like a tank. Maybe an artillery piece too, like a M270 Primaris Whirlwind or something.

Though most importantly, I want tank gak in general. There isn't enough tank gak in most of the tank kits. I need tow cables and shovels and bags and crew weapons and jerrycans and spare track links. None of them seem to come with spare track links.

GW is happy to provide that, so happy they went out of their way to remove such things from the kits and offer them as an add-on sprue for $15

Spare track links? I just want tanks with tracks, instead of floating, or with legs. Or tentacles. Please stop putting tentacles on everything related to csm gw!

There. That's my request to the survey that doesn't exist.

there’s always greenstuff ig

As for chainswords, the BA upgrade sprue comes with a tonne. Also, if you get primaris sword arms + oldmarine chainsword arms and do a hand transplant, that can look quite good.

I've tried my hand at greenstuff before and I am terrible. I can't sculpt anything unfortunately. Maybe I could find a way to glue the plastic BT tabards on to Primaris.

I've debated about adding chainswords from old kits. But I've scratch built armies in the past using a lot of kit bashing and customization only to have them become obsolete.

The way that GW is heading is one of "no model, no rules", I don't feel like wasting a lot of time, effort and money into something that is unofficial. They used to promote kit bashing, but thats a thing of the past.

I'd prefer to wait for GW to make something official, that way I know I won't be throwing my money away for at least 20 years before they release "Neo-Primaris"

I'm already afraid I blew a tonne of money on the new Chaos Marines because they might have Chaos Primaris out soon.

I already got fethed at the beginning of 8th with my Ynnari army. It was built and painted and played a couple games before they decided to completely change the structure of that army.

Then there's Warhammer Fantasy, but I won't get into that.

You can only be bitten so many times, you know?

I sympathise. The changing nature of the game is often an annoying one, less so for me than many because I primarily model- an army that gets nuked when it’s placed within 3’ of a table doesn’t really matter to me, but for the majority of the people in the game... well, I suppose it’s an inbuilt hazard.

Still, it’s your call.

I primarily model as well. I honestly don't think it would matter to most of my opponents what I put down. But as I get older, theres only so much time in the day for things like Warhammer, and I'd like to get the most out of it if I can, which means making legal armies.
