Hello,
Does anyone have a recommended light for painting? I need to pull the trigger and order a new one. Raging about my current yellowed light setup right now
Budget is $100 - cable more than 6ft preferred.

Magnifier or just light?
I was sent a Brighttech lamp to review and am quite happy with it.
A bunch of reviews from fellow Dakka folks:

Although clicking the link to their product page, I’m not seeing the magnifiers. Odd.

Its less about the light and more about the bulb. I spent about £30 on 5 daylight bulbs that fit my Ikea light, its a hinged contraption that lets me move the light easily.
You will probably find you can get a couple of great bulbs online for a fraction of the price of a new light.

Agreed. "Full spectrum" CFL bulbs are easy to find and not particularly expensive. There are also LED versions, now, that don't run as hot, but are pricier. In either case, though, it's a far cheaper route than buying overpriced 'specialty' lamps. Craft and hobby outfits charge triple the price a generic gooseneck or swing-arm desk lamp and a nice bulb from the hardware store/Amazon costs, with identical results. I used to work in a craft store that sold OttLite products - I've done side-by-side comparisons and they in no way outperformed a good bulb from Walmart in a battered old lamp I found abandoned in a basement... except for aesthetics.
Things get a little trickier if you're also looking for magnification, as those generally use special ring lights or permanent LEDs, but just for lighting, I'm a big proponent of generic adjustable lamps fitted with better bulbs. If your current setup works fine except for the light quality and accepts standard household bulbs, that's the only bit you need replace.

I use two Ikea desk lamps, those with long arm, with two photographic light bulbs. The bulbs are about 35W and gives perfect light for painting, also you can take better photos. This set, here where I live, cost me about 150zl (40-50$).
