I'm seeing the rule book, and two starters available at least. I still want to see more pics of painted infantry specific to the box sets.

I've watched a few quick reviews...and I'm liking the rulebook, but the miniatures are a sore point for me. I like PSC's plastics, so I'm a little skeptical on the "Ultracast" or whatever. I appreciate barrels that won't snap, but several of the unboxings feature the armies in a bag or box with no order, with bent barrels, etc. Pretty unprofessional looking.

Hoping to see some in person at some point - and maybe they're not as a rubbery as they seem. 10mm is rather small after all...perhaps it wouldn't be noticeable.

Yea that is the thing, at 10mm the models are more like tokens then models due to size.

For its scale the detail is nice but the moldline is a killer from what unboxings i have seen.

That's one of the concerns I have. The Bones/"vinyl" etc. etc. style alternate plastics often are a massive pain in the ass to remove mold lines.

Either way, will eventually buy a cheap set to check it out in person, but it may be a turn off.

Well you can get an impression of how "bad" it is from this vid.

Well, there's a significant fraction of bent barrels there. I'm also a bit wary of how flexible the spears were on the ultracast ancients. Didn't look a million miles from regular bendy vinyl.

Otherwise, they look good, and you gotta go with whatever material fits best, but like Elbows I'm not altogether convinced that ultracast is a more perfect medium than finecast or bones.

Yeah, that video actually made them look far worse than the previous ones I had seen. That's a shame...particularly coming from a company who does rather crisp actual plastic miniatures. I think I'll be avoiding this - but on the plus side it's pushed me back toward Battlegroup WW2.

I think I'll be sticking to Team Yankee and 15mm plastic, resin and metal models over these figures. I'm just hoping we'll get some indication of what the East German rules are like soon.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

It's not rubbery... it takes paint well and is very durable.

Any barrels I have had that are bent, just bend back with my fingers.

Mouldlines come off with a knife as easy as any other material. How much it's worth bothering with on 10mm is a personal choice.

For 10mm it's way better than metal or resin for me. No chipped or broken barrels anymore.

But you can just play NorthAG in 6mm or 15mm as it was designed for anything g from 6mm to 15mm...

So not seeing why not liking the models, stops you playing g the game...

I am still interested in the miniatures. I watched some videos to learn more about the miniatures.

At 2:55 in the following video, infantry were mounted on square bases:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YruQj703K9M Unboxing: New Battlegroup NORTHAG Miniatures

In the following video, I did not see any bases dumped onto the table with the unboxing of the Soviet Starter Army and the British Starter Army:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv6aMaTghyA Battlegames Review of Plastic Soldier's Northag Rules and Miniatures

In the flip through of the rulebook in the above video, I saw the title of "TRANSPORT HELICOPTERS", and page 61 had the titles of FIRE TEAM, ANTI-TANK TEAM, SNIPER TEAM, and WEAPONS TEAM.

In the following video, I saw infantry at 1:40 on two round bases of different sizes, and a helicopter at 4:55 with a translucent plastic disk for the main rotors and a very tall flight stand:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvK7e4q7MYE Battlegroup Northag | Plastic Soldier Company | Interview with Rules Author

Am I correct in understanding that the starter armies for Battlegroup NorthAG do not come with bases for the infantry?

What shape and size of bases are players using for infantry in Battlegroup NorthAG?

What are the infantry figurines provided in the starter armies? For example, how many of the infantry figurines are anti-tank in the Soviet Starter Army and in the British Starter Army?

I suspect that the very tall flight stand seen in the above video for the helicopter is a custom build.

If it's anything like other Battlegroup games - basing is entirely up to you (as is scale, though the rules/ranges are intended for certain scales - there's nothing holding you to these).

At 10mm and smaller you'd probably want to multi-base, but if you feel like individually basing your infantry, you can do that as well. Most of the PSC products for WW2 etc. in 15mm/20mm do not come with bases. This is part of why they're less than half the cost of a similar Flames of War kit.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I'm hopefully picking up the rulebook soon for NorthAG

I take it there is nothing to stop me using my existing Team Yankee collection for that game, with them being based with generally 3-4 infantry per base? (and from what I have heard the total tabletop force is smaller for an average game?)

I've already got a full terrain collection for 15mm/1:100 scale so it's a bigger investment for me to have to collect an all new miniature range at the same time (although some of the PSC stuff does look lovely! )

From NorthAG, pg 10, "NOTES ON MINIATURE SIZES":
This game has been written with 10mm and 15mm miniatures in mind, but do not let this mislead you into thinking it is only for those sizes of miniatures. It can easily be played with 6mm ‘micro’ armour models with no changes at all; if anything, the ranges just become more realistic. It can also be played at 20mm or 28mm, if you have the space in which to do so. Whilst these larger miniature scales generally suit smaller actions, platoon firefights and skirmishes, rather than the combined arms battles of these rules, there is no reason why the rules won’t work, as written. If players find the ranges too small (or they have a large table), then apply a simple multiplier to movement distances and ranges (x1.5 or x2). In the end, bigger models just require a bigger table.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Hey folks - does anyone have any news on when the CentAG rules for US, W. Germany etc. are going to be released for this game?

I had read that it was due to be 2021 at some time. Looked forward to getting my Leopards and Fuchs out on the tabletop with this ruleset.

April for CentAG I believe was floating around but it wouldn't surprise me if that got shifted. There's an unofficial PDF for the US floating around if that helps.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Thanks Arbitrator

I've joined the Northag FB group and there seems to be a fair amount of traffic on there. At least every day or someone is asking when will CentAG be released - Piers Brand (who I believe posts on this forum as Big P) has said that the final checks to be made and then it's complete. Apparently a list of miniatures will be required too, I'm not sure how long the wait will be for producing those and therefore everything being released.

For anyone interested he has also published a list of the new army lists in the book, 10 in total
US Armoured BG
W. German Armoured BG
Canadian BG
Dutch Armoured BG
Danish Mechanised BG
Soviet Airbourne
Soviet Naval Infranty
Warsaw Pact (NVA, CSLA and LWP)

I have read that CentAG has now been completed and proof-read and is with PSC - not sure when it will be released, but apparently a new range of 10mm miniatures coming along with the new book.

Well.. digging up an old thread here, but it sure is taking a while for PSC to get that book on sale!

I was hoping it would come out in time for the holidays, but oh well.

Me too, seems like everything for the Cold War era has stagnated, think they said they were still waiting on photos for CentAG when I spoke to them at LGT.

Honestly it's no surprise it's stagnated. The odd choice of scale (yes, I'm aware you can play at any scale) combined with the frankly bizarre choice of timeframe and limited options for armies just totally put me off the game.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

Ah OK I did wonder. I noticed there was a PSC sale and a number of the large army boxes with fairly good discount, which isn't always a good sign.

I wonder if they are waiting for those to clear before investing in release of CentAG. Which is a shame, as in the social media groups you still seem to get "where is CentAG?" every other day - I think a fair few people (including me!) are waiting for the official expanded army lists before committing.

So not seeing why not liking the models, stops you playing g the game?

Why because most people who are on Dakka have grown up in the GW eco system where the game producer also markets the miniatures for the system. Now tons of people are going to say "well I play x y z and I never played GW stuff blah blah blah" but that's the main reason.

I personally love metal models and resin models but I can understand if you have tons and tons of 10-15mm mini's and vehicles to put together how plastic would be a god send for ease of assembly/conversion work.

Are those Synocast? the same thing that Corvis beli switched to and now my nomad remotes look like garbage and the old metal ones are selling for a premium now? That BMP (I think it was) looked really rough on the top. It could of been a pre-production model or any number of things but from what im seeing from CB I'm not hearing great things about synocast. The models that I have seen personally don't look as good as the metal ones either.

Thats the great thing about WW2 era to Modern, if you don't like one companies models there are a plethora to choose from out there. As long as the rules are good and work I'll be taking a look at NORTHAG. I've always loved the idea of the bear going over the mountains into the Fulda Gap.

The above is correct --there are a slew of choices between plastic, metal and everything else.

I don't see why appearance of the marketed range would stop you from playing, UNLESS you feel that the model quality will cause the game to fail.

otherwise, pick your range and go. My main question is how the rules are at this point? I'm wondering if they are superior in game play design to Battlefront's WW III offering.
