Rust And Decay (1 CP): In the fight phase a PLAGUEBEARER INFANTRY unit auto hits and wounds on an unmodified to hit roll of 6.

1. I'm assuming the wound roll is considered the lowest possible to cause a wound?
2. Or whatever I want?
3. Or may be its not considered at all? (most likely)

The reason I ask is because you can stack +1 to wound from different sources, and possible get minimum wound rolls that would be 6 or greater and generate additional affects.

This would be in that book that’s still on preorder

Maybe wait until people have it. And then til an FAQ of obviously weird.

WARHAMMER 40,000 RULEBOOK Official Update Version 1.6 wrote:Q: Some abilities and Stratagems confer extra bonuses each time a hit roll of, for example, 6+ is rolled. If a weapon has an ability that says ‘this weapon automatically hits its target’, do I still roll the hit rolls for those attacks in the hope of gaining such a bonus?
A: No, no hit rolls are made when resolving attacks with such weapons (and so they won’t benefit from such a bonus).
Now, this technically only applies to hit rolls, not wound rolls.

However, since it is a clarification (and not changing the RaW) and the wording for "Hit roll" is the same as "Wound roll" barring the wording for determining the target needed, it's safe to say that you won't get any chance to roll a 6+ on the wound roll because it automatically wounds.

From the rules as written, since there is no wound roll, you can't ever make a 6+ to wound, ergo no effects that trigger on a 6+ to wound will trigger.

There is missing part of the rule there, Sazzlefrats. It says "Do not make a wound roll". The wound has no roll, it just wounded.

On the plus side, this does mean that these attacks can't be passed off to shield drones, because the FAQ's saviour protocols requires that there be a wound roll; without a wound roll, it doesn't activate.

Not sure there is no wound roll step in this case, it just automatically succeeds at the wound step.

I would agree with you if the hit roll said something along the lines of automatically does 1 damage, or damage of the weapon used for the attack because that would skip the wound step, however automatically succeeds at the at the wound step isnt the same as it being skipped and not occuring despite the lack of having to roll.

Edit- if alexs post is correct in that it says do not make the wound roll then I would agree with you

The rust and decay stratagem literally says do not make a wound roll.

C'mon guys, if Tau players didn't have enough to cry about everyone hating on them in the first place.

Jokes aside.

Getting a unit of Plaugebearers into combat against Tau seems like a joke in and of itself. How does this strat help anything other than deepstriking units that get a nice 9+ charge?

Where else can this rule come into conflict with other rules?

REPENT for tommorrow you DIE!!!!
