It's a cool concept, I'm a fan of campaign boxes like this. I'm curious if the Dreadhold is supposed to a Remnant style repurposed vessel or a UCM production, because it looks far more like the former.
If the crime syndicate is so brazen and has so many resources as to attack to break their crime lord leader out from the prison ship...wouldn't the obvious solution be to execute the prisoner if there is any danger of losing him?

Is this the expansion that turns the game into an interstellar battle? I was curious to try the game out, but my boys would not tolerate the complications of fighting in orbit and landing troops. At least, not with every game.
Klawz-Ramming is a subset of citrus fruit?

Orkeosaurus, on homophobia, the nature of homosexuality, and the greatness of George Takei.
English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.
Yes, but also no. You've never needed anything other than the rulebook to just fight in space and ignore planets. It's not well presented, but you just don't place sectors and don't field dropships. That's it. Baddabing, baddaboom.
Seriously, TTC not making this more explicit is a pathetic self own.
It’s bizarre how hard they (and Hawk before them) fought against promoting the space battle nature of the game. Even on Facebook, I’d receive all kinds of pushback for suggesting playing the game as a straight battle.

There are some scenarios in the expansion mission pdf that have no dropsites and are straight up shooting games.
I figure its because the whole drop side of things is their unique selling point that they've not realised
a) The market is basically empty of plastic spaceship manufacturers and the other firms which do remain are al garage firms making metal models or 3D prints of Gothic - ergo they've basically got the market all to themselves
b) That their unique selling point isn't as popular as the generic selling point of spaceship battling.
With the Starwars Armada game out of the market; BFG surviving only on 3D prints and a good chunk of years without Firestorm Armada - Dropfleet should have soared and maximised the gap to really grow fast and also fill the void.
It actually makes a lot more sense if you ever have the opportunity to speak with the owners of TTCombat - the brothers Simpson that own Troll Trader. They are deeply small minded store managers, that actively sneer at the 'nerds' that buy this stuff. Their business acumen encompasses "have money to start with" and "try to screw people in business deals" and "micromanage people in a small rural community where there are few jobs - yeah some of them will move, but most of them are stuck here and will just put up with it".
Truly, I regret my handful of discussions with them, they were profoundly unpleasant people.

ive heard that sort of things about them many times. its truly unfortunate that they are the ones who ended up with the IP, as more competent management (say, Warcradle) could have probably made the dropverse big.

They also fumbled by taking ONLY the IP and making the entire Hawk team (bar Dave) redundant when the bought the company, putting incharge people that have never played the game and basically shooting in the head the community infrastructure that had let the game flourish like it did. It really is a masterclass in how to kill a successful game rivalled only by Privateer Press. I'm absolutely stunned how they've managed to miss such an open goal with Dropfleet 2.0, it's like they have no understanding of why people play the game.
The alien ship is my favorite of the bunch. I like most of the mining(?) ships, but the big one baffles me. Was there no tool more efficient than a buzzsaw the size of downtown San Francisco?
True, esp in a game that, at its core, isn't really built on lots of close combat elements nor super over-the-top ones.
That said they are event only ships, far as I'm aware, so might well remain as such. Esp since they've already got a backlog of core faction ships that need to be paid for in plastic to get to the market.
**NEW RELEASE** New event exclusive ships are available for Dropfleet Commander, including several industrial-themed civilian vessels plus a Startrader from the mysterious Jah'tar. Explore the full range of Event Exclusive miniatures here: https://ttcombat.com/
Jah’tar Startrader wrote:The Jah’tar are an independent, if diminished, star faring race that sails from the planet Jaheria. Over two centuries of peaceable trade with the UCM’s colony of Platina, they have shared some of their history.
Their Time of Many Worlds ended roughly three millennia ago when the Great Adversary came. The Jah’tar do not know if any of their other planets survived. Their lifespans of roughly 35 years make their race-memory dimmer than one might expect, but parallels to mankind’s own experience was clear—the Scourge were the likely culprits. Surviving artworks show cruder invading ships, but some Jah’tar technology bears limited similarity to Scourge, and most scientists believe it was absorbed and evolved by the enemy. Jah’tar ships also appear grown rather than made, being largely made of a pseudo-organic chitin over a fine titanium weave.
Most of humanity’s contact with the Jah’tar is via their famous Startraders—graceful, cruiser-sized ships with lavishly decorated meeting spaces, living areas, and cavernous holds. These vessels are permitted free passage within the Platina System but are closely monitored whenever they appear elsewhere in UCM space, despite being unarmed. Hawkish colonial admirals insist that all that internal space could be put to more nefarious uses. Some Startraders serve as mercenaries with other races in exchange for favourable trades, even the UCM occasionally utilise these services too. Their value lies with their unique support technologies since the Jah’tar refuse to license any true warships to others' violence.
Relations with the alien Jah’tar is an aberration for the UCM, but these arrangements go back before the Scourge invasion and are frankly easier than conquest. Although Jaheria would inevitably be crushed, Jah’tar weaponry is formidable when they are forced to use it, and high casualties, that humanity can ill-afford, would result.
sadly the mininig ships look as if they started off as crawlers with track or big wheels and have fairly crudely been repurpoused as spaceships which is a real shame considering the rest of the range

It's cool to see them bring back battlefleets, if only so there's a clearer answer to all the people constantly asking "so what do I buy to start a fleet?"
But yay! fighters, bombers, and torps! I'm going to be placing a larger order of multiple of each in the new year I think. The scourge for sure, I want a feth-ton of those. I never liked the basing system though, it seems super fragile. Everyone I know with the UCM launch has tons of breakage and I think it just looks kinda ugly, and far too short. I'll be adapting them to my current system - paperclips jammed into a flight peg hole in a domed hex base filled with weights. Like how I did these guys.
