So instead of getting jumped by traitors, Iron Hands, Salamanders and Raven Guard intel realize the other reinforcing four Legions have turned traitor. And as such, they info higher ups and the Emperor sends in every legion except Imperial Fists and The Thousand Sons who are left to guard Earth and Magnus gets to sit on the Golden Throne.

So to Traitors' surprise, they see Blood Angels, Ultramarines, Dark Angels and Space Wolves drop out of the Warp with their Primarchs as well and Horus realizes that loyalists of his side have been leaking info to the Emperor who's arrived to Isstvan V with the Ten Thousand.

Ultramarines already had absorbed two other legions at that point, so it's in the loyalists favour I think.

A lot depends on if the Emperor is prepared to outright kill Horus or if he thinks he can be redeemed. Chaos could also drag the planet into the Warp, or boost the Traitor Primarchs.

IIRC that was confirmed as not happening - it was in-universe gossip (and the Ultramarines aren't on his list of legions turning up).

The issue with the wolves is that there are two things happening at once; the Wolves are committed elsewhere - so you also need to know that you can afford to let Magnus sit around (which, in fairness, you could - he's not an active traitor at this point) to redirect the wolves.

On a similar note, the Emperor and the Ten Thousand turning up isn't possible for a similar reason - they're stuck either in the webway or at least in the dungeons.

Ironically, if Magnus hadn't done what he did, the whole Heresy folds like a house of cards.

As to the battle you've described, it's a massacre in the loyalist's favour. Seven legions to four is what the loyalist's plan originally WAS, and that was felt sufficient overkill to destroy Horus and his forces regardless of what tactical tricks the warmaster might have up his sleeves.

IIRC that was confirmed as not happening - it was in-universe gossip (and the Ultramarines aren't on his list of legions turning up).

It was confirmed as not confirmed, if that makes sense.

That's not quite the same thing. We know from The Chamber At The End Of Memory that whatever happened to the two primarchs, Dorn and Gulliman ordered a lot of the legionaries of the former II and XI spared (albeit with memories removed). That's not speculation, because it comes from Malcador himself, who was there and did the removing of said memories.

What happened to them, we don't know. The Word Bearer's theory is just a theory but it's as good as anyone's.

Regardless, they were still massive when compared to any other legion and that would swing the battle pretty heavily in the loyalists favour.

And they are on his list of legions turning up, unless I'm misreading the second paragraph?

So either I misread it or it was edited...

So, basically every Legion, plus the Emperor and the 10000, minus the Imperial Fists and Thousand Sons?

Imperium win.
Very few Daemon Primarchs (if any) exist, the Emperor doesn't lose loads of his Custodes in the Webway War and can bring them all to bear at once, the Ultramarines alone make up two traitor Legions, the Dark Angels can now use all their deadly weaponry without fear of being branded as traitors, as they're operating directly under the Emperor's nose, Ferrus likely doesn't die, as his Legion aren't being hemmed in from all sides, and Horus isn't even empowered from Molech yet, making him much more of a match for Primarchs like Leman Russ and Sanguinius.

It's hard fought, but the Loyalists would have won.

The main reason the traitors were able to do so much damage in the Heresy was because they acted quickly, divided the Loyalists amongst themselves, and were able to curry daemonic favour over time. Without that, they were doomed from the start.

They/them
