Hey all, long time no post, with lockdown not letting me out of the house, thought I'd tackle some painting for the first time in about a year or so.

Inspired by the cover of the Taros Air War campaign book.

The Lightning's greys have a slight hint of green-brown which my phone camera is failing to reproduce, but it's a bit grittier looking in reality.

I decided to try a new painting technique with the Barracuda, the off white is highlighted / blended using a sponge rather than a brush. It gives a look similar to airbrushing, but a bit gritter and more weathered and adds a bit of texture.

I really like these, those markings are striking and super neat

Well detailed. Have you thought about a nose marking or something on the lightning? Or is that too tiny a detail?

There's not much space on the nose of the Lightnings to do much, the Marauders might be a possibility, but that's beyond my skill level.

All so good. I really love these minis. I can't believe I don't own any yet. You're turning them out a treat.

They are some very nifty planes, i especially like the green glass cockpits for the orks.

Lovely paint jobs on all, I particularly like the Lightning splinter (?) camo, it has a very WWII feel.

I've been meaning to try AI, but I'm waiting for an Eldar release before jumping in.
