Strange aeons ago a strange and mysterious thing happened to me that was interesting and actually not bad at all.

It was winter and there was like 6" of snow on the ground. Apparently someone, I have zero idea who, , got into my backyard and made a symbol in the snow in the middle of it. The mystery visitor walked around in the snow in like a 8-10' circle several times to make a circle in the snow, then walked thru it at least twice to make a capital S thru the middle of it, then apparently leaned over and packed in two spots in the snow with his fists, it looked like.

In short, someone made a large yin yang symbol in my back yard, must have taken several minutes at least.

It was sure odd, and left me going for a while. I mean i wasn't offended,it wasn't vandalism, it gave me a sense of mystery and wonder for a while, it was all in all kinda cool. I was surprised anyone in my area knew that symbol.

Later the snow melted and it disappeared but i still remember that surprise and wonder i felt at seeing it. Never happened again.

I tried to imagine what happened. I'd made it clear I don't follow any mainstream theology so maybe some little dolt thought it was a satanic symbol and he was linking me to satanism. Maybe someone else who was a non mainstream theist did it to show solidarity. I have no idea.

Anything strange and mysterious happen to you that you remembered for a long time that it still a mystery to you?

I've had a ton of long-shot, unlikely events happen in my life. Nothing I would call mysterious, just incredibly unlikely.

One that stands out, is that the truck I was driving had the fuel pump fail that morning. One of the other guys I work with had called in sick, so his truck was available. We took his, instead of mine.

I was working with a new guy at my work (I was an on-the-road service tech, at the time). We were out of town. Instead of being able to work in the shop as promised, the customer had overbooked. I wound up working on the side of the road with the new guy.

We're plugging away, and along comes a guy on a chainsaw bike. Not a motorcycle, but a bicycle with a chainsaw motor mounted to it. It was running poorly, and he drove past, then turned around and came back to talk to us.

"Hey man, would you have a bolt that would fit this?" (The metal motor case had a bolt with the head busted off). "Yeah, probably" I said. So I went to the truck, grabbed an M6 bolt, and came back. We had to take the case apart oh-so-carefully because the bolt was broken off inside the case, but we did... removed the busted bolt, and wouldn't you know it? I'd grabbed the very size and length that we needed to fix the motor.

All of this, on a sidewalk. Beside my co-worker's truck.

Guys asked if he could pay us for it. He looked like he'd been on hard times... you don't ride a chainsaw bike when you're living the good life, and it only took about a half-hour and a single bolt, so I just wished him well and he went on his way.

After he left, new guy says, "That was pretty random." And since stuff like that happens to me all the time, I didn't think much about it, but I felt like blowing his mind, so I said, "Know what's more random? I don't keep metric bolts in my truck. (Other Guy) keeps them because he works mostly on (another product). So if my truck hadn't broken down this morning, I wouldn't have had a bolt to help that guy."

Which was true, I didn't keep those bolts in my truck as my main jobs didn't need them. So that weirded him out and that was just another Tuesday for me. I think it stood out because someone else was there to let me realize that's not a run-of-the-mill occurance.

So, while I don't have anything "mysterious" I do have a lot of mundane yet highly unlikely stories to tell.

I have an uncanny knack for Finding Things.

Specifically, rare consumer desirables.

More specifically? Rare consumer desirables for their RRP, avoiding Scalpers.

Super specific? This uncanny knack does not apply to me. It only benefits others.

This first manifested itself with White Wolf RPG Books. I’d just be bimbling my way through life, swing by a bookshop, and look at their RPG section. Anything White Wolf discovered I’d text back to my mates than ran our campaigns. Every time. Every single time? I turned up a super rarity.

Since then, I can find all sorts. Limited edition handbags. Hyper specific styles of home furnishings. And all without eBay etc.

I am known as a Finder Of Things amongst my friendship circle. Almost like a Seer of Retail.

The only strange and mysterious thing in my life is that I've never encountered anything even vaguely strange and mysterious.

Reality behaves exactly how it is supposed to in my presence.
Which, when I was 12, was a heartbreaking realization.
In a circus, in Budapest. After dodging Soviet patrols in the street. Or was Soviet patrol day the same day as Opera night, and the circus happened after the mayor of Budapest gave us mini-bottles of alcohol? No, the visit with the mayor was early on, and the circus was late in the trip.

It was definitely a couple days after the border guards searched the train with German Shepherds, which felt like such a cliche. I didn't believe they actually did that.

Strangest thing that's happened to me recently:

Dec. of 2018, a few days before Christmas, around 11pm I was driving home from an evening at the local hobby shop. My area of NE Ohio USA is a rural mix of small farms/fields interspersed with housing allotments. This section of roads only got a 35mph speed limit thanks to hidden drives, curves, & plenty of deer. This is NOT an area you speed through - day time you'll run into farm equipment, night time you'll hit a deer....
So I'm going fairly slow. And I'm paying attention because the deer had been pretty active.

Ahead of me, on the right, I spot some movement coming my way. &*%^ deer....

It was not a deer.

Strolling along the ditch, minding its own business, was.... a chimpanzee.

???

It looked at me. I looked at it. And I kept right on driving, thinking "Huh. That's not what I was expecting t see."

5 minutes later I pulled into my driveway & phoned it into the township police.
Beyond some crushed down grass along the ditch where I saw it they never found any trace of it, there were no FB etc reports of anyone else seeing it, & there were no reports of one getting lost/escaping.

I've had a lot of weird stuff happen to me over the years. The most interesting though is that myself and a former college roommate seem to be "quantum entangled". Its the most bizarre thing, but very specific events will occur to one of us, and then the other will also experience something frighteningly similar typically within 24 hours of one another. The odd thing is, we don't usually tell eachother about this until after the fact, so its not like we are subconsciously influencing eachother towards certain outcomes. We noticed this shortly after graduating, specifically with regards to our love-lives. We had an uncanny knack for going through the same patterns of relationships with girls who often looked frighteningly similar, but it extends to other things too. The most recent example, almost a decade after we have graduated, occurred two weeks ago. The manufacturing floor at the facility I manage in New Jersey was flooded out by a sprinkler line that mysteriously burst around midnight. Around noon the next day, while directing cleanup operations, I get a text message from my friend - who just started working for the same company as me, but based out of a location in Texas, that he was being sent home because a water main line burst in front of the building and caused a loss of water pressure to their sprinkler lines.

You seriously can't make these types of coincidences up.

Was this near an airforce base?

I ask because in the early days of jet plane testing pilots sometimes wore gorilla masks to make anyone seeing them think they were hallucinating.

Lol, no.
About 15 miles north is a regional airport. Commercial & freight flights. The National Guard/Reserve has a helicopter squadron based there.
And about 20 miles NW from that there's a city zoo. But they've never had any primates.

Doesn’t always work on demand sadly. More of a passive “jammy git” thing.

As for possible chimps? Not a primate, but possibly a Beaver.

Years ago I was out on a night time bimble in the car. We were near one of the Zoos, probably Howletts, and something crossed the road in front of us.

Wasn’t a Badger, or a Bunny (wrong pelt colour and too large). Likely an escapee I figure, but strictly speaking without formal identification? It remains a cryptid!

Many years ago (way before I ever had a cell phone for pictures) I saw what was obviously some sort of unknown version of Stealth Bomber fly over the house. Rather than the shallow triangle with jagged back of the B2 or the trailing thin wings of the Fighter-style, it was an equilateral black triangle, with the standard running light at each point of what I am assuming was the wings. North to south in Michigan, pretty high altitude.

I'm also assuming someone got their ass royally chewed, because this was like 7pm in the Spring, silhouetted by the setting sun. I can't imagine why they wouldn't just fly it at night, because it was perfectly visible.

Few years ago, I moved to France to do my master's. I lived alone in flat that had a weird vibe. It was nice and all but there were a few episodes of strange things going on.

About a month in, I woke up and saw a puddle of water next to the bed. About 20 cm in diameter, nothing else around. No other drops, trail, nothing. I assumed it was water since it looked like it and didn't smell. Strange as I had no glass or bottle of water in the room. Windows were closed and outside it wasn't raining. No signs of water leaks from the ceiling. Definitely scratched my head.

Few months later, when I got home late in the evening, same thing. A puddle in the middle of the living room. No signs of anyone entering the house (door with all locks, windows closed, everything as I left it). Felt a bit uneasy that second time, I knew something was wrong there.

On top of that, during the whole time there, I had more than frequent sleep paralysis. I rarely get those, maybe once every many months. Sometimes I think I can go a whole year without. But during the ten months I stayed there, I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said they were twice or thrice a month. Always very similar. One of them was even during a quick nap at like 7pm, I didn't sleep at home that night. I really freak out

That house was strange. Never understood what was going on. Happy to no longer be there.

I posted my painted necron flayed one kitbash with a title like "Since GW does not want to do new ones, I made my own from indomitus Necrons" and only a few hours later GW announces new ones on their stream.

I painted my Gargant and a week later the Sons of Bahamut got announced.Considering that the OG Gargant is one of the old guys, I'd say that is a strong coincidence

In the interest of the "Wild Kingdom", my Mom and Uncle own a cottage in Northern Ontario. One morning I went out for a coffee and cigarette, and found a black bear engaging in a carnal act with our lawn tractor.

I wound up going back inside to grab a couple of pots to bang together. I'll never forget the bear staring me in the eye, having his way with our tractor while I banged pots to try and scare him off. For the record, it didn't work, nature would not be denied, and I wound up burning a dish cloth after cleaning up.

Stupid bears.

Considering the title of this thread I was disappointed that beartractors did not make an appearance at the end.

Or would they be tractorbears?
