well sure except they're an Ultramarines sucessor, and they're codex adherant and their shoulderpads are yellow.. and they use Librarians, and they don't belive the Emperor is a god and that they have a homeworld and aren't fleet based, they're just like the black templars...
wait a minute, thats nothing LIKE the Black templars!
seriously the only thing they have in common is basicly a love of swordsmanship, having templar in their name and that they are space marines
You just have to be that guy, don't you Brian!
I mean... it's the internet, it's impossiable to know someone's joking or not.

We sure about that one? Greyshields and other Primaris that aren't indoctrinated by existing Chapters tend to refer to the Emperor as the Omnissiah.

Really interesting to see the first things other than auras that are core only... Both excited and worried to see how this shakes out; I hope they get core unit allocation balanced.

We also got a glimpse of marine spells like Might of Heroes going CORE / CHARACTER only.

This is so funny... GW rushed the Space Marine book out early just so that they could get slammed with nerfs. Can't say GW doesn't respond to complaints now.

Rushed out? Do you know how long book development takes? There's nothing rushed about this.

Besides this is becoming a pattern all itself. SM get Codex #1 that nerfs the hell out of them, they suck for a while, and they get Codex #15 or so about 3/4 through the edition that over-boosts them.

Last edition wasn't the first time they've released a second book for SM late in the lifecycle. Angels of Death added a bunch of formations and Libby disciplines - plus some stand alone formation releases.

That's not the same thing as them getting a second full main book with new supplements and expansions during the codex life cycle.

You know what, you're absolutely right. There's no way they release a sub par codex for a while that will placate the non-marine players for a while before releasing a new book that will force a now even larger subsection of their players to buy at least one if not two extra books. This pattern certainly didn't start with a Limited Edition Formation only available to people who preordered an expensive model bundle on the website, get doubled down with Angels of Death, and repeat in 8th Ed. What WAS I thinking.

the libby disiplines and formations where mostly ways to give flavor to the other first founding chapters. in retrospect, I think that marked the beginning of GW's moving towards reconsolidation. the supplements where the next step. the final step is gonna be with the 9E codex finally rolling SWs, DAs etc back into one codex.

Some of it was a reprint from elsewhere assuming 1D4Chan is correct. (its been a few years and these things all tend to meld after so long) Heck even the reason a lot of people bought it was for a reprint. Skyhammer Annihilation Force.

About 40%. But this was the only place to get Skyhammer without pirating or preordering a couple hundred bucks of stuff you potentially already had.

Formations were the bandaid and sales tool of the edition. If something sucked you stuck em in a formation, you got to sell the formation and the models that go in it.

I admit it was kind of fun to see the basic space marine battle company become the boogy man of the edition

It was the free rhinos, Razorbacks and drop pods. That's when I got most of my Razorbacks with painted alternate top door, and Drop Pods
