Frankly, if they do a Ynnari one? It would be the Triumvirate as the kit rather than just one.

But remember these are meant to be Combat Patrol Detachments as well.

You never were anything but 'vanilla space marines with a couple of gimmicks'. And the previous Deathwatch box wasn't really a big seller it seemed. Mostly because, y'know...named character.

Deathwatch Bikers with special ammunition? (no longer exists)

Deathwatch Terminators with special ammunition? (no longer exists)

Deathwatch terminator with meltafist? (no longer exists)

deathwatch shotgun squad? (exists, but unplayable, and the options/weapons aren't in the combat patrol box)

deathwatch frag cannons? (exists, but very bad now, and the options weapons aren't in the combat patrol box)

The ability to take kill teams? (exists, but the options in the combat patrol box don't allow for any legal killteam combinations)


I mean this is all off the top of my head, I'm sure there's other weapon/option combinations that have been (up until now) common deathwatch abilities that this box set -could- have promoted but didn't.

EDIT: Infernum Heavy Bolter, and the Prometheum Heavy flamer. Either/both of these could have been used in this box set.

I mean Space Wolves are getting a reiver squad with special anti-psyker abilities (separate from their box but still a release). Deathwatch could have gotten a shotgun+ccw unit, hell it could even have been reivers with shotguns, though most people would have been happy with just bog standard vets. But instead they get... normal vanilla intercessors, without the ability to take special ammunition for them. So ultramarine intercessors, without buffs of being an ultramarine lol.

Out of all the xenos factions, I wouldn't be surprised if January saw the release of Codex: Ynnari, and to a lot of fanfare yet with minium effort.

I don't want to hijack the thread with a discussion of all thing Eldar( I might be related to Ted Striker ), but its worth keeping in mind that a Lelith Hesperax model has been teased and she has joined the Ynnari cause...

So basically out of all of the units you noted, you understand that most of them are just wargear right? That there wasn't actually a special Deathwatch Biker or Terminator kit with special ammunition?

The Terminator with Meltagun is an unfortunate loss as it was an interesting thing...but when they never added a bit for it outside of Cassius' Killteam? Writing felt like it was kinda on the wall.

Box seems to be a unit of Aggressors as Elites and a Fortis Kill-Team consisting of Intercessors only for the most part. Worth mentioning that "Hounds of Morkai" are actually in the Space Wolf box. It's a new profile for Reivers, nothing more.

What's assumed to be a Lelith Hesperax model. We don't know 100%(although it does look more likely than not to be her), but the rest of the characters looked to be generic.

I really do not know what they might do with Ynnari.

Cassius, of course, not apparently getting the SC status of being Deathwatch Chaplain Cassius (which I still find to be a weird own goal by GW), so basically just being an alt. Deathwatch Chaplain.

Yeh, but that's the point, none of that wargear is in the new box set. None of it. And not a single unit in the box set can use SIA.

I mean at the end of the day, pretty much all units in the game are "X basic unit but with Y wargear options", so I'm not sure where your argument is coming from.

The space wolves box set also seems pretty lackluster tbh, as it could have included some wolves or something, but I don't play SW so that's not an argument I can make.

At a combat patrol sized game, you only get one detachment, and you can't mix kabal/cult/coven in a single detachment- if you do, no one gets obsessions.

Based on the Poisonblade Raiding Party box, I would think an incoherent mess of Kabal. Cult, and Coven would be inevitable

I was thinking something like (and I don't know the PL here, so I'm just spitballing):

- HQ: Archon (£17.50)
- Elites: Incubi (£32.50)
- Troops: Kabalites (£22.50)
- FA: Hellions (£17.50 - which seems a decent price for 5, compared to other items here)
- HS: Talos/Cronos (£32.50)

Throw in a Venom if the budget allows

It depends on how much importance is given to having access to Obsessions, which that patrol would lose to subfaction mixing; it's really not too dissimilar to the current Poisonblade box.

From the point of view of getting new players started, I think mono-subfaction patrols for Drukhari would be the way to go, at least until everything is turned upside down again in a new codex.
