What does one do if one winds up with 61 Chaos Warriors when you only need 60?

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I would have used a spare champion cloak and arm for that mini. You likely had one spare.

I actually do like this set, but only if used for hand weapon and shield warriors. They have presence as an unhurried 'we will kill you when we get there' vibe.

However this image reminds me just how bad this unit looks with the extra hand weapons option, and no that isn't your fault this mini sucks. Good idea, but I would have used the champion arm for dynamism for the character model, maybe also tried a slight repose of the left arm also.

That was chosen explicitly because I had no right hand weapons left. Out of 61 Warrior models 12 weren't previously assembled and those were used getting the first two units from 15ish man to 20.

I have been working at building everything that is still NIB. I'm almost there. I also picked up two units of wardancers, a treeman ancient and a wood elf dragon for my wood elf army. The only other necessity that I am lacking is waywatchers. I'm on the fence if I should kitbash using shadow warriors, kitbash using eternal guard, ebay, or go with Mirkwood Rangers.

That is quite the Undead host you have going there. You've got the best skeletons GW ever made with the armour and halberds backed up by the really cool grave guard. That train of Black Knights is very impressive

Also very cool. Mangler Squig there.

Thanks, I was trying to get my hands on this army for a long time. The guy who introduced me to Warhammer back in the day painted that Vampire Army, which was significantly larger, as it also included a Zombie Dragon, a Winged Nightmare, some Zombies, Spectres, Fell Bats, quite all kind of units the Army book consisted of back in 6th, except for a Black Coach. One unit of Black Knights was built from single parts as he wanted them to look really well armored, not like skinny skeletons on skinny horses. Ah yes. if I remember correctly, one of the models costed him around 35 DM, ca.17EUR/20 Dollars.
One day he sold the whole lot to our LFGS, which used the army as a showpiece in the window. That was about 20 years ago, and they sold of some of the units over time.
I was there last month to stack up my inventory, namely black primer spray, and the owner told me that he us selling off all his fantasy stuff, probably on ebay. But as I am a long time customer, he offered me to buy the whole remains of the army for 200 EUR.

Couldnt say no to that offer!

Had to use DM's to buy the miniature? Now that is a sign of a classic army. That is a very good deal on that army even at 200 euro.

Ah no, bit of a misunderstanding here, I paid 200 EUR. I just wanted to say that back on the day my buddy paid for one single of these custom Black Knights around 35 DM, when he bought the single bits from mailorder. So 35 DM for each of the15 models, that is already more than I paid in EUR now.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I bought some Blood Knights on ebay, had four plus two extra horses the old owner had from a failed conversion. I could not get more except at silly price for singles. So I bought more Blood Knights from GW when they became available again, and had to buy the full unit of five, that was expensive.

I never got around to building them, they joined the queue fairly near the bottom. They complete my Vampire Counts army, but that is not on my build docket right now. I just wanted to get aquisitions over. Now the plastics are incoming and I want six of those for the unit plus two for characters, so will be buying two kits of plastic Blood Knights.

This will be one super expensive and wasteful unit, but I am compelled and don't mind because the expenses are so far apart the old costs are forgotten, and those minis are just too good.

I get many good deals, but sometimes I am the bitch.

My Monoposaz Spearmen are advancing slowly, but steadily. I couldnt resist to set them up in formation with the rest of rhe bunch.
Base colors check, next steps are shields, details and restoration of rhe old models in the pack, so they look relatively alike color-wise too.

i am really tempted to start a revenant themed VC army based on the new AoS skelletons and weightking.... As in no vampire allowed and no necromancer that isn't a lich.......
Does that even work?

Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I advise against it. The new skellies will not fit on 20x20mm without resposing which these monopose kits will make difficult to do, and will only increase the fragility of the models if you custom cut.

The prior range is not outdated, it just isnt AOSed, zombies excepted.

New fell bats are good and I home to be able to work with the Blood Knights as I did with the Chaos Knights, But the new skellies are a tall order.

If you want something different try Wargames Atlantic or Mantic skeletons, and Fireforge or Mantic zombies.

Vampire Counts do not have access to liches post 5th, but necromancer armies are very viable.
You could use lich models with necromancer rules, necromancers are functionally undead so it would not make any difference if a necromancer crossed the line. Many are degenerate enough they might not notice until after it has happened.
