I love AM but the line is a complete mess IMO. I would like GW to approach AM a bit differently and almost start from the ground up and perhaps even slightly retcon the faction (heresy I know but hear me out)
It would be good if there was a generic heavy and special weapons section to the AM. It would mean that GW could release a single 'heavy weapon' team kit with two generic AM gunners and all HW options in a single kit. A special weapons team with 5 generic AM 'commando' type unit with all the SW options and then a selection of 10 man individual faction kits similar to the Necromunda kits (They could even include some additional faction related stuff in the kits which would allow you to slightly customize the generic HW and SW teams)
This would mean that you could literally have every single regiment listed in this poll (9 in total) with the two aforementioned kits represented in a total of only 11 kits.
If you then had a single command kit dedicated to each regiment (a further 9 kits) a special character for each regiment (9 more) then 10 vehicle kits and 5 special kits like ratlings and ogres and some new things gives a total of 44 kits. I know it seems like a lot and would suggest that this release was done over a year with each month dedicated to each regiment.
There are currently 70 entries under the AM tag online so you would still have space to keep a few of the current kits and introduce a few new things and commissars and the like and still have fewer entries than currently managed. This proposal would streamline the entire faction, future-proof it for many many years to come, whilst providing a huge range of options and amazing sculpting opportunities.

They aren't a pop-culture copypasta cliché like Cadians or Catachan or Elysians, and they aren't a historical regiment copypasta like Krieg, Mordians, Praetorians, Steel Legion, etc...
They are the perfect mixt of historical influences with a proper dystopian/steampunk 40k vybe.
yeah, buddy in our group has a ton of Vostroyans, they look awesome.

Steel Legion. Beautiful models, great lore, fighting the largest conflict in the imperium that has never ended. Though similar in aesthetic to DKoK, they are completely different. Steel Legion are sons/daughters, husbands/mothers with jobs, children & lives of their own. Fighting to protect the hellscape they call home. Whereas DKoK are vat grown soldiers whos sole purpose is to martyr themselves for the emperor. The situation on Armageddon is so dire that the Steel Legion even have mad max type gangs fighting alongside them which makes them even more interesting. Like almost all of the IG regiments, their models are 20+ years old. They are long overdue for an update.

I voted for something new. I really love all the old regiments and it is sad that you can't get them anymore in some cases. My favourite are Steel Legion, and if they came out in plastic I would be happy enough about that, but I can get Steel Legion as is, what I would prefer would be for their wonderful complete metal range to be available again!
Instead of nostalgia, I want to see something new. I think the new stormtroopers look really cool and very 40K. A bit pricey for IG but still really nice. I would like something in that style but aimed more at bog standard troops, something along the lines of that wonderful art in the 2e Codex Imperialis. And then let us buy the old metals too every now and then. Diversity in Gaurd Regiments used to be the big attraction of them, and given the price of plastics these days it is actually pretty reasonable to build a force from metals...

I'd love a modular box with some options to create multiple regiments in one box.
Even if they needed two boxes to do them all.
Would be nice to have a new Regiment, maybe if RG sets up a new Imperial Army we can have a new 40K standard for AM.

My vote's for Vostroyans, as they seem the most uniquely 40k to me (and I've long had dreams of converting an army of them). Failing that, probably one of the other greatcoat regiments, as it'd be possible to hit several of the more popular regiments with simple head swaps and a few bits of flavorful kit. Not that I imagine they'd be contained in the kit, but DKoK, Steel Legion, Valhallans, and Vostroyans would be easy enough to do.
If not one of the classics, then something new with more gothic flair. The scions aren't bad in that respect, so something in a similar vein would be fine.

I think GW will use it as a way to do a “dick move”. There are so many aftermarket options that have been made specifically with Cadians in mind that I think they’ll redo the cadians just to make those aftermarket bits the wrong scale. I also think they will:
Monopose them - they love doing that
Reduce options in the boxes
Redo the Sentinel models (they seem to like updating models of that size these days)
Create plastic characters for £20 each despite being a tiny bit of plastic

Monopose for Guard would be a fricking blessing compared to now. It takes ~7-10 minutes per Guardsman to clean all the mold lines and get the assembly done properly.
By comparison, a Genestealer Cult Neophyte is ~4-5 minutes per.
I had to actually time it out doing a commission last year, figuring out how long it would take me to build 100 Neophytes and 50 Guardsmen.
Reduce options in the boxes
Why do people keep spouting nonsense like this? When the Tau Fire Warriors got a recut kit, they didn't get "reduced options in boxes". They got new ones added because then they can actually sell them to old players and new. And you cannot get fewer options than those in the current Cadian or Catachan boxes, short of removing the vox-caster and flamethrower(Catachan and Cadian boxes both have these) and grenade launcher(Cadian box has this, Catachan doesn't).
I remain fairly confident that we're going to see Heavy Weapon Teams drastically altered if not removed from the standard Infantry Squads. They've been a problematic upgrade for three editions at least now...and Neophytes for GSC have felt extremely prototype-y for the setup of revisioning Infantry Squads. Heavy Stubbers, Heavy Lasguns, 'Treadfethers'(which are one-use disposable launchers similar to an AT-4 or Panzerfaust rather than the reloadable launchers that we currently have...we never got a proper name for them outside of Treadfethers), anti-tank rifles...stuff like this feels like it's possible as squad heavy weapons. Maybe a few new types of lasguns or an option for Autoguns and Shotguns instead, bam job's done when you add in the Special Weapons and Sergeant weapons too.
Heavy Weapon Squads becoming 3 Heavy Weapon Teams that can deploy separate to each other would be an interesting and exciting new development. and would not necessitate messing around with their kit beyond maybe refreshing the infantry sprues.
Redo the Sentinel models (they seem to like updating models of that size these days)
There's no reason to redo the Sentinel, unless they add more weapons to it. It's the most complete Guard vehicle kit we currently have thanks to it being a relatively recent one too.
Basilisk is waaaaaaaaaaay more likely...fun fact, they have to include the Tank Accessories sprue with the Basilisk they sell you as otherwise you don't get a hull mounted weapon.

RT-era guardsmen would be nice. Tallarn or mordian would be my other choices.
It's not too unlikely that they'll redo cadians but tweak their style towards RT.

What I want to see? Steel Legion. What I think will happen? One of two things: - They will revamp the infantry part of the line with either Vostroyans or a completely new design (probably something similar to the Farstriders), as these would be unique and easily recognisable (ie harder to copy/easier to strike down), while leaving the rest as it is, maybe discontinueing the leftover steel legion metals. - And the most likely option, they will do nothing in the foreseeable future, except some lone character clampacks, as they consider the line finished.

My heart wants Vostroyans, because their line is the best guard regiment visually to me, plus whoever did their sculpts just nailed their scale. Placing one next to a newer space marine (Deathwatch or obviously Primaris) shows just how excellent their scale is to their astartes counterparts.
My head is telling me either more cadian, or, as has been noted by others, a re-do of the catachan line to be more in-line with the excellent newer catachan sculpts we've gotten more recently. The catachan command squad box is actually pretty great sculpt wise, and all you'd need to get the line up-to-snuff would be a troop box with the special weapon options and maybe a heavy weapon team box. The HWT box would be more of a 'eh, why not' though, as the current catachan HWT box isn't terrible at all and more than serviceable.
Beyond that, I'd take any new guard sculpts in plastic. We'll see what they give us whenever they get to that part of the release schedule.
Take it easy.

Updating AM:
1. Per regiment: A box of 20-ish generic multipose infantrymen with lasguns and a few additional arms/legs for accepting universal upgrade weapons.
2. Next add "chapter upgrade frame" style generic upgrade sets (heavy weapons, command gear etc).
3. Final wave of releases, revamp the vehicles. Retain current aesthetic but a bit less cartoony (less like MK1 leman russ, more like mars-alpha pattern).
If that's too much and only a single regiment can possibly be updated - steel legion without hesitation.

Also Mordian's would be rather wonderful. I always liked my jack booted parade dressed troops in line. That and Praetorians. WGA is making a plastic set for them for next year.
