Well if above poster is correct they are basically getting more per day than they can process in germany and rather than first in first out it's last in, first out.

In theory they might never actually get to the bottom of the pile...

From shipping company perspective it makes sense I guess, the bottom stuff is already delayed to hell, better to keep the current flow going than delay everything to clear the backlog

This.

Sadly, any company that runs on Service Levels and KPI's (all of them nowadays) will operate like this. The stuff that is late has already failed the promised service levels. The new stuff can still be delivered on time which won't affect the failure rates. To deliver the backlog first would mean new stuff would run late which would in turn worsen the failure rates.

Companies only care about what they can show on their reports with massive pressure from on high to keep Service Level failures as low as possible. Doesn't matter that the right thing to do is clear the backlog first. The reports looking good is more important than the customers that they serve.

Ask me how I know. I worked in IT where Service Levels are more important than the users they serve. I'm looking at you ITIL - virtually single handedly responsible for this.

Is no fun, is no Blinsky!

Also don't forget that they aren't getting any downtime or slowdown of deliveries. It might be that some parcels are basically blockaded in by the mountain of new things and that they can't clear out the new fast enough to physically reach the earlier deliveries easily if at all.

Esp when they have to keep space clear to sort and to separate urgent deliveries from regular.

My Cursed City order direct from GW shipped on the 9th and was delivered on the 16th so 1 week which is a lot better than before. Delivered by UPS and it went via France rather than Germany which seems to be a lot quicker.

I've had small orders from Firestorm and Element games delivered in less than a week. I've tried to only place essential orders (things I can't get anywhere else) with them and keep it less than €22 so as not to get stopped by customs as they aren't doing DDP. I had 1 order at around €50 make it through without getting stopped but that was just luck rather than anything else.

Only 1 order has gone missing since January and I got got credit for it.

My longest outstanding order, a pair of codex books, has finally arrived and both books look like they've been kicked through a warehouse for three and a half months, FFS.

Jeez. I'm waiting on my order, 3 months now but no news. You getting yours gives me some hope, because apparently most of it is in the same warehouse.

No more ordering from the UK for me I think. Not worth the aggro.

Funnily enough, the delivery date is listed as.. three months ago, using the original delivery date from aeons ago.

As is, UPS is using a different route now, thankfully skipping Germany for most of their mainland EU shipments now. Biggest bottleneck is the order being held up in a UK port facility for about a week, after which it is stomped through France in no time at all.

Over 100 days from my order now, still no word.

I'm probably gonna have to cancel. I feel a bit aggrieved, because I ordered one of the Broken Realms boxed sets that was only available for a short time, and because of this stupidity and GW not being ready for a Brexit signposted years in advance (we knew the UK was not staying in the CU since Theresa May's Lancaster House speech) I've missed out. Ah well, it's trivial stuff really but definitely leaves a sour taste.

Here recent orders from UK (both by ordering from the GW site or from other shops, both local stores or online shops) arrive within 2 weeks. GW stuff at least.

If its already shipped chances are its best just to wait it out; its not as if cancelling would be able to do anything until the parcel moves through the system

Wondering if anyone else like me is still waiting to receive items from February? I contacted FantasyWelt again and all they said was they were waiting for the broken realms box.

I don't normally order stuff online very often, I have to say this year my experience doing so has confirmed to me that I'll just use my FLGS like I used to in future because I've had a lot of problems. Maybe I'm just unlucky!

That's a damned shame to hear.

GW has a mainland facility now by the way, not in the Netherlands as had been mentioned before, but in Lyon. Pre-orders should now arrive on the first Thursday / Friday after release, or at least they have in my case for the last few weeks.

The store supply chain seems to be back to relatively normal but UPS's backlog might just rot atthe back of the warehouse, we're heard it here first that they work last one in, first one out.

Also seen a notice by GW that ordering direct is now duties pre-paid. Although we've seen that in January too and it was a blatant lie.

While I'm sorry to hear that it's also a bit reassuring to me to know that other people are in the same situation.

It's kinda unbelievable to me that my stuff has apparently been sitting in Hamburg for 5 months.

Yeah sadly a lot of mail systems are still overloaded and waiting for the surge of mail ordering to ease off and for covid work conditions to relax so they can relaly start to clear backlogs.

The big trap will be if this year+ of mail ordering and lockdowns results in a sustained use of online ordering. Esp with highstreet shops closing and people changing behaviour patterns.

Not sure how this is on GW when you've also said this:

I'm not sure why you think the two are mutually exclusive.

Not GW, by Wayland Games just posted this:

Wayland Games wrote:Important Customer Update
Our courier partners have supplied us with an updated list containing product classes that can no longer be shipped into certain countries. Unfortunately, Germany and Spain are prohibiting goods with an HS code that starts with 32 (Germany more specifically codes 3202 - 3215).
This means that, for the moment at least, we are not able to ship PAINTS (or anything containing a dye or extract) into Spain or Germany.
We have done our best to prevent carts containing these products from going through the checkout. However, if your order does go through the checkout containing one or more of these items we will be cancelling and refunding them back to you so the rest of your order can ship.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, Brexit really is the gift that just keeps on giving!

How's so? No duties for me ever. If you got asked it was mistake and you could just ask for refund from GW.

Still waiting here with no update on arrival for the stuff I ordered on the first of feb.

Still sour over the fact that GW apparently didn't have their customs sorted out even though it was known the UK was leaving the customs union and single market since 2017.

The customs rules are changing on a weekly basis - Germany and Spain have just banned paint imports, for example.

"just"

this is not really something new as not being allowed to ship paints by air is there for years now (~10) same for spray cans and you needed more expensive shipping for those

there is no new ban on paints

I don't know, maybe because of brexit their partners doing now air freight only hence they cannot ship those any more

another possibility would be that those paints contain special chemicals or animal products that are banned

yet it would be strange if Vallejo paints, produced in Spain, are banned from importing them back to Spain from England
