Braced and ready for the day to come. I just hope Xenos doesn't sell out too fast!

Also I'd really like if this year GW could work on getting some big names into AoS and perhaps next year the BL Celebration might have SOMETHING for Age of Sigmar!

Again, if you want a swift check-out, buy yourself a gift certificate before the day itself so you can checkout in a single click instead of scrambling through the Paypal or credit card payment screens.

As for AOS, I still want more Eight Lamentations damn it. Or anything not Stormcast related, that would be grand.

I think I'm going with a two-fold order approach - Liber Xeno on order one, then the rest on order 2.

Related question - is Dead Men Walking any good? I hadn't heard of it at all before this celebration.

YMMV, I found it a very depressing novel and not in a grimdark sort of way.

This. I'm used to grimdark books, but this one left a bad taste in my mouth. Very depressing and one I have no desire to read again.

It's a baffling choice of quote. To me it isn't "cool", iconic, inspiring, memorable etc in the slightest, it's just him boasting about "I'm a Primaris Marine now, aren't Primaris Marines great?!".

Best IG novel IMO, and one of the best BL books.

Pretty much in agreement with all the other sentiments here regarding the Liber Xenologis.

That's the book I'm interested in and I hope I, and others, can get a copy

So War of Sigmar have a partial price list, but no mention of Liber Xenologis or the badges:

€22,- for the hardbacks, no surprises there.

I think lack of Xenology is due to it being a GW online store only product, as with the limited editions of Penitent and Ventris.

Yep which means manic ordering on the day - I hope they've enough copies! Surprised they didn't make it Print on Demand. Even with the time delay at least it means you get your book and GW's print on demand is a good quality service.

Sadly, I don't think it's going to be anywhere as in-depth and cool as Xenology (especially if its only a page or two per xenos), but I'm still intrigued. The interview did mention they were allowed to create some new aliens (not whole species, but still) which is awesome.

It is written by a rogue trader and not an inquisitor this time around, so it'll probably come across as less professional overall.

But the art does look good.

Looking how thick it is.
If each double large spread is a different race, that’d be awesome.
I would assume Orks and Eldar etc will have separate larger sections maybe.

So is this limited then?
Or there’ll be a normal release later, non limited edition version and such?

The page says it might come to local stores at a later date. However that might depend on order volume at the weekend. IT also depends if GW is doing one big order and then splitting inventory (ergo even if they run out at the weekend the stores already have stock allocated) or if they are doing two separate print and order runs.

or "what we can get from / out of them"

Then again its an in universe joke that Inquisitors pose as Rogue Traders.

I'm not too sure what to think of the preview pages for the artbook. It's by no means bad, and the artwork itself looks great, but at the same time both that page and the other 2 that can be seen just seem...bland? Like there's a lot of near-empty space that serves no actual purpose, there's no nice borders around the pictures and text, and there's little in the way of actual decoration to break-up the page. It's meant to be a Rogue Traders artbook so I expected something a bit less clinical and more elaborate manuscript-like style, like even the recent Sabbat Cruade book had more from what I've seen of that. Just feels like that's not a good or interesting use of the pages and there's therefore no need for it to be so big, that zoat text page for example should have been full or with some extra small drawings rather than being more blank space than anything else, although the other 2 don't seem as bad with that side of things.

I'm glad to see art with boarders - I get VERY annoyed with how many companies print art without boarders in books and then what always happens - double page spreads. Because books have spines and you don't see that on a digital layout; but when you get the book in hand you're either losing the whole middle of the picture or cracking the spine.

That picture of Xenology 2 is extremely disappointing.

It looks nowhere near on par with the original. Very little interest in it now.

The more I look at those preview pages the more disapointed I am, really. I'll still get it, but compared to Xenology or the Sabbat Worlds, it just looks lifeless and more like something that feels more along the lines of copy-pasting wikipedia articles on a page without much thought rather than a handcrafted, bespoke-style of book handwritten by an elaborate and sytlish Rogue Trader that I expected it to be.

Like, where's the detail and personality to it that makes it feel like something from Janus himself that he wants to show off with? There's absolutely nothing about those pages that makes you think it's from a guy who likes fancy exotic things and impressing others with his wealth.

Guess I will ask the Loot Group for a heads up

Every purchase from the Games Workshop webstore during the celebration also gets you a free short story anthology, which contains five tales from across the 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms. With stories of the Black Templars, Gotrek Gurnisson, and more, it’s a perfect introduction to Warhammer fiction, and a great way to just enjoy a few tales you might not have read before.

Warhammer stores and selected stockists (the ones that are currently open) are joining the fun too, with copies of the anthology to give away once they’re available in-store. Locate your closest stockist with our Store Finder, and give them a call to check when they’ll have stock available.

You shouldn't need to buy it from scalpers on eBay, provided you just have anything you might want to order during the timeframe?

I’m a touch disappointed with it too. I’ll still pick it up I’m sure (if I can that is).

I enjoyed it. It felt grimdark to me, very bleak, but with a satirical edge like the black humor of ~3rd edition.

Is Liber Xenologis a spiritual sequel of Xenology, or like a Damocles Gulf extended version? Or neither?

Xenos book looks to be a decent number of pages.

Provided it’s not photoshoppery, looks to be maybe 250 pages? I say that as the pages shown are 124 and 125, and the pic makes it look to be around half way through.

Funnily enough it looks like they changed Ventris head (from terribad to just ugly). Result of mass dislike causing retool or just earlier prototype?

Dead Men Walking remains one of the best guard books. This isn’t the sometimes hopelessly optimistic feel of the Ghost’s series.

It’s grim in places but outside of the now gone forgeworld books it is the best insight into the Death Korps.

Xenology looks poor and a reminder of some of BLs more lazy publication ms from the noughties.
