Not sure who you're referring to in your post, those three games have complicated histories and Asmodee and FFG were both pretty smart to separate themselves from those games when they did.

It’s on now.

Dropped in late. So far seen a shuttle for Star Wars, and a LAAT/le, both for Legions.

Seriously caught the very tail end. Guessing there’s more been shown, and trying to find it.

Shame the chat is just nonsense. Hard to figure out what else has been shown.

Apparently they're reboxing the old X-Wing stuff into starter bundles, which is basically what needed to happen from the beginning instead of trying to re-release every SKU over the course of a decade.

Ok here we go folks!

**Simone Eliot**: Head of Studio for AMG. Does all the business stuff.

**Will Shick**: Head of Product Development. Does all the "cool stuff".

States that they are going to talk about what's coming up for the games, so here's hoping for some news.

Studio started with 8 people. Hiring a lot of new staff. Possibly took on some FFG staff?

What's coming up next? It takes 18-24 months for ideas to get made into products. Simone says that all the product coming in 2021 was created while the studio was work-from-home, so expect delays on a lot of product.

Simone: Why was the move made from FFG to AMG? Simone has worked all these games with FFG. A focus was to move the games from a "Board Game Perspective" to a "Miniatures Game" perspective. "Give it a more authentic miniature's feel."

Shick: "Miniatures first, everything else second." Wants to build on the foundations that already exist, but with more focus on the miniatures. Miniatures are "An expression of your self", so AMG wants to have a valuable miniature experience even outside the game.

Shick: **X-Wing and Armada will remain pre-painted.** Possibly put out some painting guides for custom x-wings. More exciting sculpts, more dynamic.

Simone: "What you can expect from AMG." Spoilers at the end of the stream. "When will people see the change in branding?" Everything coming in 2021 is FFG stuff. In **2022 everything will move to AMG branding**. Reprints will have AMG branding.

Starting today or tomorrow all social posts will start coming from AMG. FFG's social accounts will be phased out over the next few weeks and months.

Starting next week Will Shick will live stream every Wednesday and there will be a stream on Friday for Star Wars content. Very hobby focused streams, painting and design and such.

Simone: Not a bunch of spoiler information at the end of this. In March there will be a ton of live streams with much more spoiler content than this one.

Simone: **Organized Play: Bigger announcement at noon central tomorrow.** Covers competitive OP for both studios. "We have made the decision to not move forward with a Worlds in 2021. We are not in a position pandemic wise to plan something that big." Next Worlds is coming in 2022. Wants to focus on smaller store level OP towards the later half of 2021.

Shick: AMG and Organized Play. Inheriting from FFG and wants to continue that legacy. OP will remain an important part of all their games. Want to explore different modes of play, want players to be able to explore their miniatures and ships in new and different ways. (My take on this means painting competitions and awards).

Simone: "Do I get to talk about my hopes and dreams for Legion OP?" Talking about doing something that is essentially "Vader Down" from the comics. She's super into that idea, and Shick is backing her up. It's just a "hope and dream".

Spoilers:

**X-Wing**

** There are no current plans for X-Wing 3.0. AMG is happy with the state of the game** but wants to explore other experiences such as co-op and other things. Expect regular points updates, and app updates. No schedule on that.

Release Dates: March 26

**Phoenix Cell:** Alt painted B-Wing and two a-wings. Already in a box at Simone's house.
**
Hera Syndulla B-wing** card. Most skilled B-wing pilot in the game.

**Skystrike Academy**: Alt painted Tie Defender and two alt painted Tie Interceptors.

**Gideon Hask Interceptor** card. FFG is the #1 producer of Gideon Hask art in the whole world.

**Fugitives and Collaborators**: Alt painted HAWK and two alt painted Y-Wings.

**Kanan Jarrus HAWK card**. Brings the first light side Jedi to the scum faciton. Represents him in his lost padawan phase.

End of X-Wing Spoilers

**Armada Spoilers**

Armada products: Friday April 16.

**The Invisible Hand**: Grevious' Flag Ship.

Venetor Class Ship Card shown.

**Republic Pelta**

**Recusant-Class Support Destroyers**

**Legion Spoilers**

Release Dates: May 20th.

Two new vehicles.

**AA5 Speeder Truck for Rebels.** Looks chunky. Optional turret. Doors will open and close and it has a fully detailed interior (wow) with removable roof. Talk more about it in March as far as why and how it works.

**LAAT/le Patrol Transport.** Empire *AND* Galactic Republic faction in one box. Fully modular doors and detailed interior.

AMG will have studio miniature paints with photographs as examples for people.

**Rules Forums:** In the next couple of weeks AMG will be opening a Star Wars rules forum for Legion. Will server as a contact point between the community and the developers. Goal is to get official answers as fast as possible. Will not supersede official rules or FAQs until those answers are officially printed. The forum will have specialized tools to find these rulings. They will start with Legion but also put them up for X-wing and Armada.

These streams will continue every Wednesday and Friday at 1pm central. Starts out with mostly painting. More spoilers expected in March.

What also worrying is AMG aren't actually all that crash hot at making miniatures.

The Crisis Protocol range has run the gamut from outstanding to utter tripe, with some questionable design decisions along the way, not to mention technical issues like awkward builds, shallow detail and mispacks.

It is improving, but nothing will spoil that faster than a much heavier production schedule.

Do we know how many of the miniature design or production crew made the shift to AMG from FFg? Cant imagine for a second that they will be shifting manufacturing facility so that will be the only way things change.

On the stream, glad that we finally got some sort of news of the new products that we already knew about, disappointed that we didn't actually get anything new announced though.

The news that OP is going to continue is fantastic, hopefully they will maintain what was built for them as well as expanding into the more narrative stuff that it sounds like they are keen to do.

Also quite pleased to hear both that the next couple of years worth of product is already done (18-24 month lead time...), that no new editions are planned for immanent release and that AMG are going to be doing twice weekly video streams on SW product.

The announcement that the next big wave of reveals is due for March is also a good thing as are the solid dates for the release of the new products, a note about their god awful distribution would have been nice though, as would some sort of acknowledgment that they are trying to rectify things (things were bad well before Covid so that is not the only reason, the FFG slow boat to oblivion has been a thing for years).

Also, Kanan is Scum now! Looks like a fun new pilot for the Moldy Crow, gutted that the new pack comes with more Y-Wings but really thought that it was going to be Resistance so happy to get any thing for Scum.

having the minis first and than thinking about the what rules fit the minis is the main reason 40k rules are what they are

and for those who play the games because of the rules and not mainly for the setting this will have a big impact
(getting either a unit that the army does not need or already has while something else is missing or ending up with rules that do not fit the style of the unit)

but for 2021 it should be fine with the 18-24 months but overall most people here are into Legion or X-Wing because of the game/rules and less for the setting

Likewise, and I'm crossing my fingers the new cards are available outside boxes of minis, as given my gotta catch em all approach to 1.0 I have pretty much everything, don't mind buying new things but repainted variant has a whiff of new hat thinking

Tried watching it back, and I too found the production values offputting.

How do you make a Star Destroyer more dynamic?

I hope that doesn't extend to Legion models. They look dynamic and soldier-like enough for my taste. No need for Stormtroopers to prance around like superheroes as far as I'm concerned.

GW's way of doing things is... unique. There's no reason you can't put more effort into the miniatures side than you did while retaining the quality of your rules. GW's approach is down to poor attitude, not competing resources that require them to prioritize one thing over another.

Consider that FFG already implemented improvements during the lifespan of Legion. Early PVC miniatures weren't as crisp or as hard as the latest PVC models, and the switch to hard plastic has seen the models that got that treatment improve further.

As long as AMG doesn't actively try to mimic GW there's no reason to worry about how greater care for the miniatures would translate to worse rules.

Yeah GW's rules issue is more to do with the attitude and skills of staff and resources than anything else. The "models first" aspect just means that the design team makes things and you can bet there are a LOT of designs that we never see that could easily be put into production if the rules team said "hey can we have an XYZ"

Thing is GW's rules have "worked" for the biggest company in the industry for years so they've less pressure to change. They have improved a lot of their attitude since the Kirby era (who honestly was all about boutique production to the point that we wound up with the AoS launch). That said they've still a long road to travel. Even just more technical writing would improve things - not even changing the quality of the rules themselves.

As for Starwars I really want to get into Armada at some stage. I just hope that they can steadily resolve the shortage of stock issues they've had over the years with it. Perhaps dropping pre-painted would help with that though I'm guessing that a big part of their market are non-hobbyist gamers so pre-painted likely works well (and at least it means I don't have to contend with my lack of painting skill/effort

I wouldn't worry about it too much. AMG is basically an extension of PP and the rules of Marvel have been as tight as anything out there with consistent wording and proper timing charts. They're not going to suddenly forget how to write rules. Given how much of Legion's struggles have been a result of dodgy miniature quality (and dodgier sample paint jobs....) it seems like an obvious thing to focus on. I like the game but for such iconic characters they got stuck with some dreadfully boring sculpts.

I was pretty shocked by this as well, not the least because their production values on the Marvel streams are usually a lot better. Through lockdown they've mostly been streaming painting sessions which might be where things didn't line up here. I also just get the impression that the next year or so is basically out of their hands and they're just managing the release of stuff already in the pipe. It sounds like we won't really see how the change impacts the game until next year. Everything we've seen so far has that feeling like they're presenting someone else's homework.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Outside of X-Wing doesn't seem to be any new info, other than telling us actual new info will be coming in two months - still, teasers for the previews of the trailer of the actual product is just how things work these days, isn't it.

What is extremely disappointing is that they're not planning to do proper forums, just a glorified FAQ submission system. Even if FFG themselves barely ever went there, the official forums had some interesting discussions on modelling, background, lisbuilding etc which won't be possible on their "forum" that's limited to specific rules questions that get threadlocked after you get an answer.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

Sadly these days most companies will do a Facebook channel, but forums are dead ducks. They simply don't get the marketing and attention and the signups to make them important enough marketing wise to make them viable to sustain for many companies; whilst the FB page costs them nothing to maintain and upkeep and the signup is huge because most people these days use a facebook account and joining groups is as simple as clicking "join".

FB is worse than a forum for long term discussions and preservation of discussions and generally everything forums do. I'm honestly surprised they've never built a forum style system into FB.
But if handles casual social connections really well and companies don't have to worry about trolls and arguments half as much as they might for a forum community.

The real question is, why do people who arent giant mega-empires keep trying to do '2nd edition' resets?

I've literally probably played 10-15 games over the years that were all but obliterated by a new edition of the rules/resetting of the model range.

Monsterpocalypse, Axis and Allies Minis, Mage Knight, Xwing, WMH (3.0 rather than 2.0 I guess, but still), Flames of War (4th edition)

Pretty much any game system smaller than DnD/40k, tell people "hey, youre gonna have to rebuy all your stuff!" and 90% of your players just go "nope" and leave.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
