Hi I've been looking around and I'm just getting incredibly confused at what books I actually need now.

I have the Space Wolves codex supplement and I'm hoping I just need the new Space marines codex and the new core rules book, is there anything need on top of this?

Last time I played all I needed was a Space wolves codex and a current edition of the rules, but now I see things about FAQ's and PDF's that I need and I'm finding so convoluted.

Thanks and Praise the Emperor.

That should be it for now. Rules, space marines codex, space wolves supplement

Not trying to confuse you here, but if you intend to use any models from Forge World with your Space Wolves, you'll need Imperial Armour, too.

As for FAQs/errata, that can be found here. There are three small tweaks to the SW book, covering minor missed abilities. The Space Marine document covers more issues, but is currently only two pages.

The more important documents to be aware of are the Munitorum Field Manual 2021 and Power Rating Update. In theory, there should only be minimal changes from the Space Marine and Space Wolf books, but there may be some. As far as I'm aware, the values in these PDFs overwrite the ones in those two books - Death Guard is the first book to be released after them, off the top of my head.

thanks for this info, just for clarification this now means that I can take anything from the space marines book?

and in regards to Grey Hunters and Blood Claws do these profiles over rule the tactical marine/assault marine profiles in the space marine codex? (if im using space wolves)

thanks for the help!

There a few units from the core SM book you can't take, but they're listed on page 124 - and I believe they're units which are replaced by traditional Space Wolf units (well, apart from the Apothecary - why'd you have to do Wolf Priests dirty, GW?).

Blood Claws and Skyclaws roughly replace Assault Squads, while Grey Hunters are roughly your Tactical Squad replacement, yes.

And Long Fangs are the Devastator replacement, but no mooks to take wounds for the heavy guns make them a poor proposition.

Mook is a term from games (more single-player than competitive) for the weak foes you just kinda cleave through.

In this context, it refers to the guys in a Heavy Weapons Squad that carry only Bolters-they're mooks because they die first.

The origin of the word 'mook' seems to date back to the 1930's and is used to refer to a stupid or incompetent person.

In gaming the term is used as JNAProductions states.

'It is a source of constant consternation that my opponents
cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable
defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'
