Is there still a limit to the number of points your army needs to have on the board during deployment? I can't seem to find the rule anywhere in the rulebook, but I know previously you had to have half your points deployed on the board.

And assuming you have to start with half your army on the board; what if more than half your army starts on the board, but you use a stratagem that puts a unit into deep strike turn one, bringing you to over half your points in strategic reserve/deep strike?

Such rules are now a function of the Mission Packs. For the Eternal War mission pack, this restriction is found on page 282, and lists in detail what you can and cannot do.

Thank you, I was able to find the rules. It confirms that more than half your army has to be on the board. However, I'm still not sure if this restriction only applies to deployment. Say I have 800pts in deepstrike, then on my first turn I spend a strat that puts a 300point unit into strategic reserve; is that legal?

The game only checks on deployment. Anything that gets moved after the game begins isn't checked because the check has already been checked.

If I recall, it’s 50% of your units and 50% of your points maximum. So if you have 10 units in a 2000 point game. 5 of those units valued up to 1000 points can deep strike.
