Does anyone here play it? I'm looking for an answer to a question and they company switch to discord which is, well, discord.

I play once a month (or at least, that's the dream), but this is my first campaign with it.

At the very worst, I can forward the question to my GM and post back here. They've been running for years.

I'm on a podcast about (video) game design:

And I also stream tabletop painting/playing Mon&Thurs 8PM EST

And make YouTube videos for that sometimes!

I noticed that in the credits for EP2 the authors thanked antifascists everywhere. I'm surprised no one has complained about that. I guess people who would don;t get into it.

That's good to know. As someone who grew up on my own family's first-hand experiences living under both fascist and communist tyranny, I have no interest in supporting either ideology nor games that thank terrorists associated with them either. A friend introduced me to EP shortly after they crowdfunded for EP2 so I didn't back it so I don't have it. Did they release the free version of EP2 so I can check that out myself?

Did you start this thread to talk about politics?

Actually, riggy, i was curious about the new system. I remember the old one being a monster in terms of chargen that could take hours to create a character with literally 1,000 points to spend on a long list of things. Several long lists of things actually.

of course you could create an utterly unique character, but not easily.

From what i now see, chargen is somewhat streamlined with multiple templates, the option to switch redundant skills around, points buy options, ads and disads, plus some other options. Still an involved process but a lot of the "HTF do i spend a thousand points and keep track of them all?!?!" has been simplified quite nicely.

(Oddly enough it's quite easy to spend and track 1k points in wh40k, but when it's all on customizing a single rpg character it's another matter altogether.)

Speaking politically the game admits it's got a lot of political factions and in some ways it does reflect real words politics. The authors leanings are not hard to discern, the remark about thinking antifascists everywhere was something i just came across in the credits almost accidentally and just confirmed what i'd guessed. I'm ok with the game's tone.

I see that certain mods are limited to a maximum of 5, so that reduces the "hunt for what minor issues i have that might give me a mod" issue.

The Async class is a bit less of a white elephant now, with a few major issues being alleviated or outright dropped.

The weapons still feel a bit generic, but there is plenty of gear.

it's still not a game for amateur rpg players and gms, and a very odd setting that is not too well represented in film and tv yet, but all in all worth a look over.

I'm still looking for an answer to a question about The Lost characters but it seems hard to get one.

In terms of settings, it's not exactly an old genre.

Trans-humanism and post-humanism, which began as an outgrowth of the old cyberpunk genre.

Where your identity isn't necessarily tied to the meatsack (sleeve) that you are wearing currently.

Altered Carbon (books and series) are about the only recent "mainstream" examples of it outside of "Ghost in the shell" (where "the Major" is a "ghost" that inhabits various bodies and can swap them like clothing).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I got the rule book out of curiosity but I've never played. I can't really compare to 1st Edition as I didn't play it. For me personally 2nd feels too crunchy for me to enjoy.

It feels like a game made by people with serious enthusiasm for the themes it plays with. These guys went full in on trying to explore Transhumanism in the form of a TTRPG, and I'd say they never really shy away from what they think about various topics (there's a huge lore section in the rulebook) but that feels like kind of a plus? When something is a passion project, it's usually best to just go all in.
