And for some actual content?

Who knew the BL reveals would be more impressive than the 40K reveals? Lots of GG gubbins, some nice limited edition tat, and a fair number of books shown off.

Sadly none for Warhammer Horror or AoS, but hey ho,

Hipster Mkoll looks awesome. I can totally see him fixing up some burgers.
Pinhead Rawn, not so much.
Whats with all the super bulky arms?

Its a good thing they dont ad up to a full squad since the unit loadout would be a total waste of points in a game. It would just be humiliating to put them on a tabletop.

Edit: those Ghosts models looks huge, by the way.

I was worried at first that they are moving Guard to 32mm bases too but that doesn't seem to be case. Yet.

On Friday, I expect the announcement of a new Ork Codex. Given the GW policy of releasing Codizes as double features, this would leave an additional codex that should be about to be announced.

Space Marines + Necrons
Space Wolves + Deathwatch
Blood Angels + Death Guard
Dark Eldar + Dark Angels
Ad Mech + Sisters (presumably)
Orks + ???

With the new Be'lakor, I'd guess Daemons.

Or I would if anyone played them

Maybe Guard will get their day, GW has been making an awful lot of character models for them

There's no policy like that though. The Admech codex was announced by itself in the March preview.

We've generally seen two codexes at a time because preview events happen every 6-8 weeks and they've been aiming for 1 new codex per month. But with the release schedule disruption in April all bets are off. Seeing a third codex confirmed this week will depend on how confident GW are in their supply chain and when their next preview event will be.

Yeah. I think Orks is still a bit away (as are Sisters tbh, AdMech isn't even on pre-order yet).

The first Paragon Warsuit preview (not counting the Palatine) we've seen was January 23rd, and the Codex probably wont be here before June (5 months?)

The first Beast-Snagga pic was from March 20th. Solid 2 months later.

Confirmation of the AdMech Codex was also March 20th, easily 2 months before it hits stores, so it might well also take as much time for the Sisters book to be actually in people's hands.

Be'lakor is going to be covered in Chardon pt 2, so I don't think he points to a new Deamon dex to be honest.

I wouldn't be shocked if it were Genestealer Cults, given the rumour engine points towards them getting a model soon and the perception their rules are a bit off.

If Ad Mech comes for the next pre order reveal, I could see sisters being maybe the last week in May perhaps.
But it’s cutting close to fit them in May. So yeah June is a good shout.
However, by then if we are back in full swing. Orks could easily be June also.
Particularly if they’re wanting July for AoS or whatever.

Remember GW's release schedule has slipped and things are being released later then they were planned to.
Admech was supposed to be April and now likely will be in June.

If you recall from the 40k preview they specifically called out that there would be no admech stuff in warhammer fest because the new codex is iminent, like so close there's nothing left but the weeks notice for pre-order most codexes get.

I'm hopeful the admech codex will be announced as going on preorder this Sunday in the 'coming this week' so pre-order from Saturday 15th, release on the 22nd. At the latest a weeks lag from those dates (pre-order 22nd, release 29th) It depends on what factors are involved.

With charadon part 2 announced to have sisters (and for some reason admech/knights again) the ideal would be to release their codex before part 2 hits to avoid the part 2 connundrum where codex supplements were released before their actual codex.

I think the reason we didn't see AdMech last Sunday was so that it can be released alongside Charadon and the new Mechanicus terrain box. Charadon must be overdue as well, as it's odd for Belakor to lack official rules for this long and they didn't have a plan B lined up to publish downloadable rules. Hopefully they'll all be up this Sunday.

I didn't want to go there, but, yeah. A half-dozen special characters that don't mesh with an existing army that really wants troops is a weird thing to get excited by. Painters/collectors, sure. Knock off their socks (though really.. these aren't particularly sock worthy).

But this really isn't the herald of a guard sub-faction production line. There's a pile of book-related and event-related guard (and other imperial) characters from the last few years. They're primarily shelf models, not game models.

GWs sculptors have told us that the studio doesn't sculpt "one-off" models, and all sculpting is done in batches so that they can ensure stylistic consistency between models in the range. Even though they may only release one model at a time from that batch, there are always more sculpts that we haven't seen.

In short, Gaunts Ghosts do herald a revamped Astra Militarum/Guard miniatures line - just probably not an entire army of gaunts ghosts/models that look like Gaunts Ghosts. In reality I anticipate the revamped guard line is going to look like a hybrid of Catachans and Cadians (in the sense that the new minis will look a bit more ragtag than cadians but more standardized than catachans), playing into the Alien quadrilogy "colonial marine" aesthetic or rough men and women with burly unsleeved forearms. You can already see this at work comparing the Gaunts Ghosts to the Catachan Colonel and Sgt. Ripper Jackson, the design commonalities are easy to identify. I believe (though I could be making it up) there was recently a piece of Cadian artwork in/on a book that likewise alluded to this, featuring one (or more) Cadians looking rough and ready with rolled/cut sleeves on their fatigues and having a bit of a non-uniformed appearance thing going on - might have also just been Catachans but wearing armor instead of t-shirts and bandanas.

Edit: those Ghosts models looks huge, by the way.

As are all of GWs recent sculpts, GWs newest minis really seem to be more 32mm scale than they are 28mm scale. I expect guard to follow suit in averaging about a full head taller than legacy models.

Scale creep strikes again
.

Is it really scale creep if its intentional to limit commonality with competitors 28mm kits and bits?

I was worried at first that they are moving Guard to 32mm bases too but that doesn't seem to be case. Yet.

You sure? Those look like 32mm bases to me, especially after accounting for the likely scale creep/growth in size.

At worst, what you've just described above is a non sequitur.

GW does not make one-offs. Ok, if we go with that premise, we can see that they didn't. They made 6.

So... how that mean Tanith Guard are coming?

They were probably sculpted around the same time the other 2 one-off release Guard were, too. That's 8. That's a fairly decent batch for someone to do. I agree that these no more herald a new Guard revamp anymore than the other 2 did.

Well that would be barely above kill team. And mostly due to transport.

I could see the last chancers getting a power boost. Every one of them is a character. Perhaps 2 wounds each (4 for Schaeffer and OX), 2 attacks for most of them (More for Schaeffer, Ox, Warrior Woman, Shiv) and a boatload of special rules that would allow them a fighting chance against 500 points of Space Marines (always getting the first turn would be good, and maybe they always hold an objective if near it, regardless of enemy models).
