I really hope they squat oldmarines sooner than later.
The only iconic unit that is still posing them a fluff problem to convert to primaris are terminators. Once they solve that issue oldmarines have no reason to exist anymore.

No, I don't think so Tim. Sounds pretty wild. Nothing lasts forever but if they eventually squat first born marines really it depends on the time, if they do it in like 10 or more years am I even going to care at that point ? Maybe not but I doubt sisters will replace them, they're just getting their own new stuff based off old designs for the new tank.

I mean, is this even up for debate? Given how hard GW has pushed the past few years for their special snowflake primaris which are the same classic taste in a brand new can but better and more special in every way, does anyone not think that the original marines are up for the chopping block?
I think the initial handling of AoS exploding twice in their faces prevented GW from just going ahead and doing it right off the bat, but I don't think even GW is crazy enough to double up on Space Marines, if only because they want to make sure that every primaris release is gobbled up by the same players and at the same rate that original space marine releases were.

Well that is what people get for not using protectors. Some have to learn it the hard way I guess.
I hope they don't start squating this edition or if they do, they do it after they finish updating all marine factions.

Firstborn would probably get replaced whether Sisters were still languishing in metal or not. I think it's more likely GW is trying to placate the 'Female Space Marine' crowd by making them closer to... female Space Marines, which is why they're beginning to double down on their equipment resembling Astartes even more with every release. Shame they got the GK Baby Carriers and not Terminator armour though.

As I pointed out in my first post in this thread: Sisters are a poor substitute for Marines if you want female Space Marines. The theme gets in the way of any conversion you have since their religious themeing extends into their rules. Like dress them up as Vikings and call them Valkyries, but then the Martyrdom rule doesn't fit the theme, nor do the Miracle Dice. Plus Sisters rely so heavily on their religious themeing to be distinct from Marines walking it back just puts them into the Marine camp, at which point you might as well just make female Space Marines.

Why doesn't maryrdom fit the viking lore? Wotan hanged himself, they are constanly trading body parts for stuff, god sacrifice themselfs to achive different goals or get killed by harmless stuff like Balder did. And the mythology is also full magical stuff. ring, weapons, armours, enchantments of various forms, curses and spells of transformation. I don't understand why wouldn't it fit the viking theme

Even if you want to stretch it and claim that Miracle Dice and the Martydrom mechanic that goes with it fits Vikings, how about fitting an Amazonian theme? Crusading Templar theme? Roman theme? Mongol theme?
Sisters are focused on just being one specific thing to the point their rules don't bend into other themes as easily.

Miracles definitely fit Viking lore.
Valkyries were spirits that tripped up warriors and carried them off to Valhalla when they died. If that's not a form of divine intervention I don't know what is.
I definitely do think Sisters are being presented as an equivalent to Space Marines, hence their new battle tanks and suits.
But the replacement to the Firstborn is Primaris. They've already directly replaced multiple characters and at least one unit with Primaris versions.
Thank god AoS caused much of a ruccous as it did otherwise Firstborn would already be history!

This would keep some classic kits relevant and usable as Marines move on to bigger better things.
That's...not how it works? At least not lore wise. Sisters of battle are funded by the ecclesiarchy, they have functionally unlimited requisitional capacity. They use old stuff like the Exorcist by choice because faith or w/e. They don't just take marine cast offs.
Also, land raiders have been obsolete since 5th edition. I'm already mad about the Castigator, we don't need more useless 3rd ed crap clogging up our codex.

Exorcist was recovered from the vaults under the Imperial Palace so presumably they nicked it from Malcador's collection.

This doesn't make any sense.
The 'female space marine crowd' is a fraction of a fraction of even sisters' regular playerbase. No one cares what they think, certainly not enough to create space marine esque vehicles to appease them.
Even if they DID care what they think, Sisters of Battle are not female space marines. The people who want female space marines do not want something that kind of looks like female space marines if you squint a lot and don't read any lore, they want female space marines. Coming out with Sisters of Battle models to appeal to Female Space marine enthusiasts would be like coming out with New England Patriots gear to appease Jets fans (They both play football!). Or the coming out with French world cup gear to appeal to the English (they both play soccer!) for you europeans.
The crowd that Sister generally seems to serve in GW's modern iteration of them are people who wanted more obvious female representation in 40k. Sisters are an established faction with a unique and popular aesthetic that served that purpose perfectly. You can argue about why they wanted to appeal to the demographic Sisters appeal to or political whatevers or whatever other internet neckbeard reasoning you want to as to why they deliberately increased the amount of visible female characters in 40k, so long as you keep in mind that 'appealing to female space marine players' is one of the only categorically incorrect answers.
Sisters have ALWAYS had model parity with space marines outside of the penitent hosts. Canonesses are captains, BSS are Tacticals, Retributors are Devastators, Celestians are command squads, Seraphim are assault marines, the exorcist was...actually more like a basilisk with a leman russ chassis but that tank's always been weird.
It is not AT ALL surprising that they're continuing the trend of just rehashing marine releases (Chaplain, Lieutenant, Ancient, Centurion, Predator, honor guard). There's no conspiracy here, just lazy design work. Thus 'by choice because of faith or w/e'.

I'm not saying its "cast offs" its merely the fact that forgeworlds that are adept at making rhino chasis vehicles no longer have a customer to "sell" to and may not have the technological capacity (or willingness to change) to make repuslors and such. Where is this gear going to go? To sisters of course! The ecclisiarchy have wads of cash and thats why sisters had rhino chasis stuff in the first place because prior to Primaris it was the apex of imperial combat technology. I imagine that marines would never willingly part with their old gear anyways even if they are sitting idle (if I recall theres a 10,000 year old rhino in the Ultramarine armory that gets turned over once a year to make sure its still running). I would almost argue to say that sisters getting things like the new not predator and maybe a cathedral land raider (which I would buy no matter how terrible it was) is a way to preserve the old Marines vehicle heritage and aesthetics while allowing new marines to go into new design territories. Retiring iconic units like the rhino and the landraider would be....well sad so moving them into the sisters line would be a great way to pay homage to those venerable units and give them a new life on the battlefield.

Yeah, after reading this thread it makes sense.
The bikes are the only Primaris vehicles that I like, everything else looks worse in my opinion, so it sucks to lose that classic aesthetic to SoB.
Can we just copy & paste the Rhinos/Preds/Speeders/Terminators to Primaris and pretend the bouncy marines/ATV never happened?

No, because the Ork squad design is very very old. About as old as the Tac/Assault/ Dev squads they mirror/emulate. And if I recall correctly, I think there's actually some fluff about Orks emulating Space Marines in the first place both out of respect but also to make fun of them. I think Orks have been trolling Space Marines ever since they first met.

Without actually watching what appears to be an obvious clickbait video...
Sisters have always been girls with bolters. They have always used STC style vehicles.
Marines and Sisters have used the Rhino.
Exorcists were just Whirlwinds with a different top before being turned into organs and its still the same Rhino like body.
The Castigator looking like a Predator is because both are STC vehicles derived from the same basic body.
This is not Sisters becoming 'normal marines but with boobs'. They have always been 'marines but with boobs'.
