Hello, hello.

A little while ago I picked up the Elite Starter Kit and finished putting all the necron models together and I'm trying to figure out what might be good to fill it out to a proper 500 point combat patrol.

HQ
Overlord- 100pts
(or proxied as)
Lord - 70pts

Troops
Necron Warriors x10 (Gauss Flayers)- 130 pts

Elite
Skorpehk Destroyers x3 -105 pts

Fast
Scarab Swarm x3 - 45pts

Which comes out to 380pts with an Overlord or 350pts with a Lord. What should I add to it? More warriors? Tomb blades? Immortals?

I mean you could give this a shot.
The veil of darkness will allow you to teleport you skorpekh destroyers anywhere on the board. And the implacable conqueror allows you to reroll your charge. And the Dynasty will give your Gauss some more fire power.

I think the Immortals might be a good fit for my army. However Implacable Conqueror and Veil of Darkness only work on Core units, so the Skorpekhs can't benefit from those unfortunately.

I've been mulling it over for a bit and came up with a couple of ways to maybe flesh out the patrol.

Patrol Detachment 0CP (Necrons) [25 PL, 3CP, 490pts]
Dynasty: Szarekhan

HQ
Warlord
Necron Lord [5 PL, 70pts]: Relic: Voltaic Staff, Warlord Trait: Enduring Will

Troops
Necron Warriors [6 PL, 130pts]
10x Necron Warrior: (10x Gauss Flayer)

Elites
Skorpekh Destroyers [5 PL, 105pts]
3x Skorpekh Destroyer

Fast Attack
Canoptek Scarab Swarms [2 PL, 45pts]
3x Canoptek Scarab Swarm

Heavy Support
Canoptek Doom Stalker [7PL, 140pts]

Total: [25 PL, 3CP, 490pts]

OR

Patrol Detachment 0CP (Necrons) [26 PL, 2CP, 500pts]
Dynasty: Mephrit

HQ
Warlord
Lord [5 PL, 70pts] Relic: Voltaic Staff, Warlord Trait: Enduring Will

Technomancer [4PL, 75pts] Relic: Veil of Darkness (1CP Dynastic Heirlooms)

Troops
Necron Warriors [6 PL, 130pts]
10x Necron Warrior (10x Gauss Flayer)

Elites
Skorpekh Destroyers [5 PL, 105pts]
3x Skorpekh Destroyer (2 Hyperphase Thresher, 1 Reap-Blade)

Fast Attack
Canoptek Scarab Swarms [2 PL, 45pts]
3x Canoptek Scarab Swarm

Tomb Blades [4PL ,75pts]
3x Tomb Blades (3x Particle Beamer)

Total: [26 PL, 2CP, 500pts]

With the first list I can take more cautions approach as a large group and push up the board with the Doomstalker providing long-range fire (yay for Szarekhan rerolls). With the second list I can be more aggressive and push harder with the tomb blades running interference and have the technomancer to revive units and use the veil for extra mobility.

Thoughts?

The first list with the Doom Stalker is exactly what I did with my Necrons from the Elite Starter Kit. I like it because the Doom Stalker is a difficult threat to handle in a 500 point game and the Overwatch ability is even better in smaller games.

But I must admit that I did not get much opportunity to play with it due to Covid...

If you wanna buy Tomb blades maybe go for the new patrol box.
Then you have 10 Immortals too if you don't like flayers.
I think DDArk > Doomstalker.

I know it has been a while but I've been mulling it over and thought about trying something a little different. Mainly because I can't seem to get a hold of any Doomstalkers or technomancers...

Patrol Detachment 0CP (Necrons) [26 PL, 499pts]
Dynasty: Mephrit

HQ
Warlord
Lord [5 PL, 70pts] Relic: Voltaic Staff, Warlord Trait: Thrall of the Silent King

Troops
Necron Warriors [6 PL, 130pts]
10x Necron Warrior (10x Gauss Reaper)

Elites
Skorpekh Destroyers [5 PL, 105pts]
3x Skorpekh Destroyer (2 Hyperphase Thresher, 1 Reap-Blade)

Fast Attack
Canoptek Scarab Swarms [2 PL, 45pts]
3x Canoptek Scarab Swarm

Tomb Blades [4PL , 89pts]
2x Tomb Blade (Particle Beamer, Shieldvane)
1x Tomb Blade (Twin Tesla Carbine, Shieldvane)

Heavy Support [4PL, 60pts]
Lokhust Heavy Destroyer (Gauss Destructor)

Total: [26 PL, 499pts]

By switching the Trait to Thrall of the King I can buff the warriors and tomb blades from further and keep the Lord away from CC, while the LHD gives a dedicated anti-armor and long range support. I used the left over points to buff up the tomb blades a bit. Think it's any good?
