After 10 years being out of the hobby I'm starting to get back into it. Recently I stripped all my old models and have been rebuilding them. Trying a whole new paint style and color scheme. I had built a list based on the Blood Axes Kulture, but the rules for Death Skulls are also pretty good so I've chosen to split the difference and go with a blue camo theme. I will probably grow to hate the choice with how many more models I have to paint but so far I like them. Also true to form the orks have chosen a blue camoflage pattern while in a red/brown desert.

First up are my warbikes:
There's a bunch of kitbashing going on here since my old models were all the single position bikes from years ago. So I bought one new set of bikes and went to town. Some of them still have the old rectangle base, so there may be some base work in the future. Also there a couple of bits from my Battle Fleet Gothic bits that worked out well for the front of a couple of them.

Next up are my Storm Boyz. I had old metal models but the newer plastic ones look so cool I just had to get some. Of course side by side the old ones and the new ones had a pretty different feel, so I mixed in some plastic in and even moved one of the older rockets to one of the new style. Had to be careful with the balance on that one though with all that weight so high up. I feel like I may have overdone the highlighting, but I can live with it.

Now for some Grots and a Runtherd. I wanted to change the Runtherd a lot because it's pretty bland pose so I stole the gretchin from the warbikes kit and used a more regular style ork body for the Runtherd. There also a couple of old metal ammo runts that I painted here at the same time as part of the group.

That's it so far. I'll post more here as the army comes along.

Good job. I like the blood on the weapons. Blood Axes are the coolest, lets hope they get a buff in the new codex!

With a little more white you could have yourself some American orks.

Nice work though. Everything's a little grimy and a little dusty. Very ramshackle.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

I've finished modding and painting the boss. He's got a cybork body with an arm made essentially from a Battlefleet Gothic ship. His other arm is from the bikers, maybe run it as Headwoppa's Killchoppa. Squig was taken from the runtheard. Also I just finished some terrain so I set up a little scene for him to be in.

Here's my take on the weirdboy. I of course used the ork shaman model, but I thought that skull on the staff would look great as a headress instead. Also went ahead and put a knife in the other hand. I had a lot of fun shading and texturing the robe.
