Hi, I've mentioned this before privately to the mod team to pass on to admins, but I figured I'd actually put a mention in on N&B too.

More than a few times, I have found that, despite having my pronouns displayed in my sig, this is often overlooked - most likely due to sigs being optional, and some platforms not showing them (mobile, I believe). Now, I wouldn't want sigs to be made compulsory, but there should be a way to display information like that in a non-optional format, for easy reference, much like player nationality and date of joining the site.
Would it be at all possible to create an additional field in the user information box on the left hand side to accommodate for an optional pronouns section, much like location?

As I just mentioned, yes - optional. I don't advocate for forcing all users to *need* to add that, in the same way that location remains optional - however, by providing that feature, it would go some way in normalising and supporting the use of both standard and non-standard pronouns, as well as hopefully removing instances of mis-address.

Would this be too much to ask for?

Might be easy to implement by adding another 1-3 categories to the post tracker field to display he/him, she/her, them/they instead of the usual title that changes with postcount?

Honestly, I never understood your signature that way - I just assumed that you wanted to raise awareness to gender neutral pronouns.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I would imagine having it in the sidebar along with your name etc, might be less noticeable than in the sig as you're currently doing.

I have sigs disabled, I can't see that at all.

I don't really read the side bar beyond seeing the avatar from the corner of my eye, but it existing somewhere on the page would be more visible than sigs currently are.

I mean, it could be like the "Location" thing. It shows up if you fill it out in your profile, otherwise it doesn't.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

This is political and goes against the rules. It also isn't a stretch to imagine people ignoring or purposefully misusing them in every other thread and then you will be calling for even more rules to mandate pronoun usage. It has nothing to do with wargames and it would only lower the site quality; that said, I would love to watch the chain reaction it causes.

It’s a simple way to show how you would like to be addressed.

People using the wrong pronouns intentionally is covered under rule number one. Using the right pronouns is just basic respect that everyone deserves, and intentionally misgendering a person is, at a minimum, rude.

Is no more political than someone pointing out that they prefer to be called 'David' rather than 'Dave', or nominating a preference of of 'Miss', 'Mrs' or 'Ms'.

Whether it not it's something to implement will be a decision for the site's owners. Even without it, it probably wouldn't hurt for people to try to not just assume that everyone on the site is a guy.

It isn't a form of impoliteness to disagree. I won't use them because I disagree with the politics/ideology. If the site owners mandate that posters be compelled to say things they don't believe then I have no choice but to do it or leave. Until then not happening.

Calling someone what they want to be called is basic courtesy. It’s not an ideology-if my friend Alexander doesn’t like me shortening his name to Alex, it’s just basic politeness to use Alexander.

Same with pronoun usage-if someone wants to be referred to with male, female, or neutral pronouns, it’s showing respect and politeness to use the right ones.

That’s a nice note to close this on. Thanks!
