Asking here before I risk annoying the Moderati.

I’ve recently joined a gym, and for motivation I wouldn’t mind a not-quite blog type thread, to encourage others and myself. Would this be not allowed, or for Geek Media or Off Topic?

I'd imagine the best place is Off-Topic, since it's not Media.

And, provided you get responses to the thread, I don't think there's any rules against posting personal exercise journeys. If no one bothers to reply, then yeah, let the thread die, but if other people do respond, it's as valid as any other Off-Topic topic.

There have been a few over the years, with some activity. In OT.

Yeah, the OT forum is the place for such a thread.

The only thing we ever worry about with a thread like that is someone using it as a thinly veiled way to blog about their own life, rather than as a way to generate an actual discussion with others.

So you can go ahead and post it in the OT forum, but make sure you're doing it in a way that encourages others to post/contribute.

If it goes on for a few weeks and you're like the only one doing any posting in it, then we'd have a situation where we'd probably want to let it die.

But give it a shot and see how it goes!
