There's no battleforce boxes, per the holiday gift guide.

NOOOOOOOO!

Hoping that it was just a clerical oversight, but would make sense given the state of the world. That said, it looks like there might be some "web bundles" that offer a discount in the offing. E.g. this Nurgle Bundle is the daemons + mortal battleboxes with a pack of Nurglings tossed in for holiday cheer.

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/servants-of-the-plague-god-2021

Retail price is £135, bundle price is £94.50, so it represents a 30% savings and a break from prior GW convention where web bundles offer no discount.

Sadly doesn't look available in the US.

I was 100% going to pick that up until I realized there is not one for the US.

Here's what it looks like. After the Templars, there are four release weekends, maximum before Christmas.

Here's what's remaining in 2021:

+ 40K Black Templars remaining releases
+ Khorne Bloodbowl team/Kroxigor
+ Necromunda: Outcasts + Scenery
+ Dungeonbowl - unconfirmed
+ AoS Stormcast - Dragons - December
+ AoS Nurgle Battletome - December
+ Shadow Throne: GSC vs Custodes Box + Codices
+ Battleboxes

It's easy to imagine some of these being doubled up and so it's plausible to see it all coming before the end of the year.

That said, it's kind of wild how many $150-200 products are being stacked up at the end of the release calendar. In the last month we've seen BT LE, KT: Chalnath, and WarCry: Into the Spiderverse. And if this list is right three of the next four weeks will be primarily driven by expensive boxes.

Chapter Approved should be showing up too, I think.

Hopefully as a free digital document again that actually changes something. Other than fixing the SHAD, the last one was pretty pointless.

Edit: Honestly, I think we need another Big FAQ more than another Chapter Approved at this point. Lots of stuff needs the kind of fixing that gw seems to prefer doing in FAQs nowadays instead of CA.

Aren’t we also waiting on Krieg vets and Ork Kommandos?

Also Dungeon Bowl is in the Holiday gift guide at 160 USD. More than I was hoping, about what I was expecting.

So either £95 or £100, is a pity they can't keep it at a lower price, especially as its got way less models than the £85 blood bowl - the two big guys, two star players and the refs is £70 worth of stuff bought separately. i get the boards will cost more to make, but still seems silly the price is higher.

The price will be higher on everything, just look at Underworlds.

Still hoping we get Book of the Outcast and that market place kit for Necromunda. That’d be nice.

Yeah I've been ordering Zone Mortalis stuff but I won't start building until I have the Market.

Where?

It's worth mentioning that almost all of our recent releases are ticking the GenCon reveal checklist.

We have the KT starters and individual DKoK and Kommandos and the Necromunda Outcasts and Market left from that event to see release.

It's been talked about on the competitive streams. No one has directly come out and said it, but it has been implied. They missed the Big FAQ deadline so they need to be doing something. Waiting until June would be a disaster.

They didn't have a ton to fix back then. Now with certain flyers and artillery out of control they have a bigger mess to sort. Most of what needs fixing is points ( ignoring core system wishlisting that probably won't happen until 10th ).

It was "Fall", which I guess technically we're still in that period.

Well got myself to the GW store and got the festive gift guide.

Like said nothing new there as far as I can see apart from the price of the Big dragon set at £95 and Dungeon Bowl at £95 too.
Theres like a weird activity thing with games on this 36 page gift guide about the Red gobbo that if you complete gets you a free Bauble...XD

I hope theres more than just this catalogue for Christmas though.

CA wouldn't fix much. It isn't reactive enough.

I sincerely hope in the FAQ.

Where did they say that?

We had big FAQ updates for 9th in Jan & June this year. I wasn't expecting another until Jan 2022.

I think you are right.
Personally for me one of the highlights of the season was checking the battleforces content and comparing them etc. Most of the times great value for your money and would get me exited into either completing my armies or starting new ones.
A shame to see it go and a Christmas without them is a bit lacking.
With that said frees £100 from my shopping list.

You may remember that we announced a starter set for Kill Team during our GenCon reveals. This will be joining the Kill Team range in early 2022, alongside standalone boxes of Ork Kommandos and Veteran Guardsmen.

Take this with the usually grain of salt, but there has been a lot of rumblings in the community that we are expecting at minimum an emergency FAQ to deal with flyer issues soon, and that the points changes are expected to drop this year instead of January due to how bad things are right now.

Right. Who knows what fresh hell could be visited upon us, but since the problem is mostly contained to artillery and flyers of specific armies it could at least settle things down a bit until more permanent fixes can be applied.

I could see the bi-annual FAQ updates being released in early June and early December. The timing for the January 2021 update may have just been a one-off because they wanted a bit more time to gather info following the launch of 9th. An update six months after Chapter Approved makes sense, just haven't seen anything official about it yet.

Honestly I'm grateful if it doesn't happen. Don't have the budget for it this year, and frankly probably don't need any more stuff until I can thin out my backlog.

Yes, I know I *can* just stop buying them every year, but I won't.

Disappointed if there are not megaforces this year. I guess it’s going to be a good one to chip away at the pile of shame. And for the hobby budget. They always encouraged me to spend more than I would just buying boxes a la carte.

Agreed, even if the cardboard costs more, it can’t cost THAT much more (even if it had quadrupled in cost, the previous costs of printing cardboard components were very low), and considering how well GW is doing you think they could absorb the cost. That or just make the tiles in plastic in house or something so they don’t have to worry about printing/shipping/etc.

I will still pick up Dungeon Bowl because I am really looking forward to it, but I quit playing Underworlds over their last price hike to that line up. It’s not that I can’t afford it, I just don’t see the value for that price. They already got me to stop with 40k and Warcry over the last few years. Only GW game I buy now is Blood Bowl. I imagine if they continue to raise prices they will see more and more people leaving their side of the hobby, especially as indie games/smaller studio games are becoming more widely known and are often better value.

If you're anything like me, there's always last years to crack open and actually get to work on!

Last year I picked up the tyranid one. Built and painted 3 units out of it, one primed and ready, and the genestealers are on the “eventually” pile.

Was looking forward to a marine one as I still need a chunk of bodies to fill out my primaris battle company. But I have enough battle-brothers primed to keep me painting in 2022, so hopefully next year will see a useful box for me. No rush.

Ironically this is the first year in a long time that I was looking for one. My older armies are well established so I've never really been tempted to buy £100+ of stuff in one go for them, but this summer I started with Orks and deliberately stopped buying at <1500pts in case an xmas box was released. Might also have been tempted for a GSC box with the codex out almost at the same time.

Hoping for a Adeptus Titanicus Knightforce bundle for christmas. That at least would be something after a year of mostly disappointing releases.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.
