What does this mean? The mods on this site are some of the most transparent ones around. I remember going on some forums back in the day, and mods would lock threads with messages as vague as "this is a troll." Say what you will about everything else, but this one's flat-out wrong.

Locked threads with no comment at all?

Eg.,

I put a lot of effort in that thread just for it to be shitted on by mods.
At least return a token effort. Even a snotty gif would be something.

Gosh, that got closed? on a forum with a no-politics rule?????? WELL I WONDER WHY

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Transparency is only required when trying to convince the governed that authority is legitimate. In a situation where the power is absolute, transparency isn't required, except as a way of maintaining good will.

This is a private club. You don't have rights and the mods don't have to keep the mandate of heaven.

Down with the constabulary! No taxation without represen... wait... what were we talking about?

I can only think of two instances in God-knows how many years when the mods came down on me for completely inane reasons. One of them was using just that very word - inane - and another was because Mannenhien (SP??) didn't understand the joke/reference I was making and thought I was genuinely telling someone to die in a fire. Beyond that the only thing that's ever pissed me off was Reds8an editing swear words out of posts that had already been changed because of the word filter, but we're talking years ago.

The only actual real issue is that I don't think Mods should be able to moderate the threads they themselves are participating in, but that's just a moderating style thing.

They're doing fine, and not getting paid for it. Moderating sucks. I'd never want to do it again.

Beyond that, I don't see what the first reply guy is blathering about.

Mods are fine, the site generally is less active so it makes sense that the mods are also less active.

Private or public is irrelevant.
You either have values and principles or you don't.
A private club with these values is better than one without these values.
It's not a difficult concept. People try to obfuscate their intellectual retreat by hiding behind the word "private".

I didn't "demand" transparency. I commented that it doesn't exist within the structure. Don't misrepresent what I am saying.
