Subject: Aeldari rumours (Shining Spear - page 44 - Wraithguard - summary in post #1)
A unit with the exarch helmet + exarch hooded helmets would look much better than the standard dark reaper guys. I get why they look like they do, since they're trying to keep the models as faithful as possible, but the elongated skull look isn't great. Maugna Ra most likely has a hood as well (based off the new year teaser), they'd all look great together. I wonder how easy it will be to acquire spare exarch helmets.
Also, if anyone is proficient in photoshop, how does the exarch helmet look if it's done like the old kit? Like the face being black and the rest being bone colored?

I didn't like the elongated skull heads of current models and therefore I don't like these either. Both 2nd and and 4th edition models have better looking heads in my opinion. Rest of the models are fine, including Exarch head options. I will have to see full range of head options before I replace my 4th edition Reapers.
That place is the harsh dark future far left with only war left.

Everyone playing the Aeldari preview drinking game - take a shot.
Now only a CSM player.

I think I like the models? But the Nightmare Before Christmas paintjob is making it hard to tell.
Its not just the goofy cartoon skulls and the helmet 'wings,' the severity of the 'edge highlighting' makes it so much worse. Last I checked, 'highlight' doesn't mean a normal layer of paint in a completely opposed color.
The plumes honestly aren't doing much for me either. I like the guns and the sense of extra armor on the model, but a better paint job and just some spare guardian helmets would make this unit so much better.
Efficiency is the highest virtue.

I really like these. Helmets are a bit goofy but they were before and there’s more options now. I really like their armour with the chunky legs and the loincloth thing.

I mean, this has been the house style at GW for years and years. Not sure what you were expecting tbh.

If not, what are they like currently? I always felt Dark Reapers lost their role in 3rd Ed, when they only served as Marine Deleters. Lack of strength stat for vehicles, lack of shots and unit head count for lighter and more numerous units.
Fed up of Scalpers? But still want your Exclusives? Why not join us?

Yeah, this.
Also, big thanks for the smooth faceplate idea, will definitely be going down that road with mine.

Well, we know Shining Spears coming, as there was a Photato leak earlier in the thread. They may be a dual kit with the Shroundrunners, but that’s only really speculation based on the fuzzy photo.
Either way, that leaves Striking Scorpions, Swooping Hawks, Fire Dragons and Warp Spiders to go. So less than half awaiting plasticisation, because one of the fliers (Crimson Hunter?) is an Aspect.

New Dark Reapers! Kool & The Gang, if you would do the honours...
...and they look super sexy! Damn, I think I might be able to almost kitbash a 3rd edition Exarch from that kit...

I see the Autarch having Warp Spider accessories as a good sign of things to come...
Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

The facemask ones look rad.
Yea I think getting rid of the rounded edges on the mouth pieces might make them look a bit better.

Same here, the cartoon skulls and wings remind me of a saturday morning cartoon, not exactly what I was expecting. I'd definitely like to see a version of them in a different paint scheme and as others have mentioned a more standard face plate.

The helmet wings were some sort of targetting aid, I think. Radar sensors, or something.
Not that I likt the look of them on these heads, but they were a part of the aspect's thing.

That they can get somewhat better at it over time? Maybe its a product of Duncan leaving, but I remember it being more subtle and with colors that worked with the base paint, not just stood out as a stark contrast.

I might be the only one around here, but I really appreciate they kept the helmet design. Love the influence of Moebius in those helmets, really screams '70's sci-fi.

Duncan was not an 'Eavy Metal painter.
