Ditch these oldschol, boring designs. Go for Gloomhaven or Machina Arcana or Middara or one of a dozen better, slick, modern dungeon crawlers.

Came here to say this. Seriously, don't get sucked into other people's nostalgia, you'll just end up spending loads of cash on incredibly bad product because some people are unable to critically evaluate anything they experienced when they were 8.

GH:JOTL looks really good. Might get that one...

Any impresions from playing GH:JOTL so far? I have only played its bigger brother but I am definitely going to play JOTL at some point too. I am especially interested in how the story holds up (is it branching, depending on players' choices, like the original?) and how varied the mission objectives are (variety in the big game was more about mission set up and dozens of very different enemy types but objectives felt samey).

On a related topic - any experience with Tiny Epic Dungeons anyone? There's a Polish edition coming soon and it looks like a perfect backpack game to take on holiday. It's affordably priced too so I guess I just need a little nudge

Sadly I didn't get Jaws of the Lion as other things have taken priority, but it looks ideal from the Youtube playthroughs...

...he's such a happy chap, bless'im.

As for Heroquest its still a good example of solid game design, as much as Jason & The Argonauts is still a fine monster movie despite the event of Dragonslayer and Jurassic Park.
