Just trying to gauge how people would feel about this. I honestly hate the aesthetic of the Exorcist but like something like the Whirlwind. So would people make this into a big issue?

I wouldn't be bothered at all, and would be even more convinced if somebody was to just throw on some Sisters bits and iconography to a Whirlwind.

Honestly I just wanna hear from the people here that would not like it. They're both Rhino chassis artillery. Get over it.

As long as the size profile is accurately modelled and it's clear you're not trying to take advantage of any specific differences and you make it fairly clear to your opponent prior to the match, I don't think it matters. They may not let you do this though if you're in a tourney.

What, you don't like Abaddon being used a Roboute Guilliman? They're both space marine special characters. Get over it.

If you don't like the aesthetics and design of the army you picked, that sounds like a you problem.

What specifically about the Exorcist do you not like? Is it the organ itself?
I don't think you'd be getting game refusals over it unless you just used a Whirlwind and made no effort to tie it into the general SoB aesthetic of Church-Tank.

Yeah the organ and junk on top feels like so much overkill to me. And I would likely take the whirlwind turret and put it on a Sororitas Rhino, I think that would fit? If not then yeah I would deck a Space Marine whirlwind with sisters iconography.

It's literally a rhino based vehicle that shoots missiles. I have no issues at all.

Here's what you need. A FW Exorcist. Sadly long oop. But also damned easy to just scratch build.
All 3 of mine are this pattern. I hated the organ version in it's original incarnation, so when FW made this I hit send as soon as I saw it.

I've already played against a SoB army using whirlwinds instead of exorcists. From more than a player actually, although that happened before 8th, when SoB were still an army of ancient models.

I don't see why anyone would refuse that unless someone were to be playing some kind of Sister/Marine soup where confusion could happen. It's a tank that fires missiles and even the size police shouldn't be able to complain because the chassis is the same as well.

As long as it has the heavy bolter modelled.

your mind

I love the organ version, so fun to paint and stage with floaty Birdy ribbons using magnets and yada, but sure, why not use a whirlwind base with some sob iconography?

Saw a lot of this back when WWs were plastic and exorcists were metal/hybrid kits. Even painted a couple for use as such.

So, you wouldn't accept the previous official Exorcist then since it only had the organ missile launcher and no heavy bolter modelled on it. Before 8th the Exorcist never had and couldn't take the heavy bolter.

No issues, especially if painted to the match the army. Bonus points if you add some sororitas bits to it, i would probably like it better than the official model that way

If someone converted an evil Guilliman to lead their Chaos army and used Abaddon rules, I'd be all for it.

Fun conversions that have zero risk of creating confusion for your opponent are always welcome.

So long as you keep it to yourself.
My Exorcists don't have heavy bolters. Therefore they won't be firing heavy bolters at you.

Why would there be confusion? You're not going to using both rules at once.

I would of course have no problem with it, but I would greatly prefer - as many have said - that this was a Sororitas-themed Whirlwind, ie with Sororitas livery and bits, and not an Ultramarine Whirlwind just sitting there.

I definitely think the Exorcist pretty over the top. I like it, but I see why people would not. Same with the Immolator.

No, I'm not. I quite like seeing well-done conversions. The tone of the dismissal of any contrary opinion just struck me as open to absurdity.

Yeah and anyone not okay with it should be dismissed. What's your point?

I may actually convert a few Sisters Whirlwinds down the road too. I love the Exorcist kit, but I've always thought of them as special shrine/ command vehicles. In a huge onslaught game, I think it would be awesome to have one full Exorcist as the mobile shrine/ command and a couple more practical work horse fighting machines as back-up.

I have more of an issue with someone who doesn't like the exorcist. I mean, let's be serious, it's absolutely glorious!!

I guess that leads me to ask, is a Sororitas Rhino the same model as a SM Rhino with different accessories?

Looking at the sprue pics, yes.

The exorcist is a completely separate kit these days, but used to be an add-on to the rhino kit.
