The other day I made a thread about what armies were customizable, and since that, I have been thinking about what would be a cool custom army. An idea just occurred to me, would a punk-themed chaos space marine chapter based on a hive world work?

I think you could kitbash Necromunda goliaths together with chaos space marines reasonably easily. Put a goliath head on a chaos space marine, but a chaos space marine helmet and a weapon on a goliath. You're golden. (no idea if that would work, but according to google, they are around the same size?

Cultists of the abyss would fit right in without any modification.

From what I can tell, you can use most of the minis from Blackstone fortress in 40k? If so, all the chaos stuff from the base box is fantastic. In particular, the traitor guardsmen would be great. Maybe give them Escher gang heads.

Chaos bikers would look good with the punk theme.

I'm reading the codex and am confused by this, but anyone can take noise marines, right? Because they would fit the punk vibe great.

No idea what you would do with the color scheme. Steel and yellow feels the most hive-wordl-y, but thats already iron warriors. Bright pink I think, would make for a great punk vibe, but that's already emperor's children. The color scheme of goliaths (bronze and red) would be great, but thats already world eaters.

What do you think of the concept? Would it work? Any other ideas for it?

Idea generally is very cool - but I'd be a little wary of calling a goliath body a space marine, personally. Size is about right but the minimal armour of a goliath gang member doesn't really suggest space marine power armour to me. Depends where you play, who you play with etc I guess.

As for colour scheme - isn't the whole idea of punk to be anti-conformity? But you could go for black / silver (and denim-blue?) to tie everything together, and then a riot of bright accent colours and random attached bits to provide individuality.

If you got some really fine chain, you could drape it on a CSM body with a goliath head.

Studs and spikes are doable too.

If the frontman of your army was named Henry, your banner bearer could carry a Black Flag.

On color schemes - you don't really need to worry about whats already used by others. There's only so many color combos & you're 20+ years late to the party.... Nobody is going to look at your Chaos punks & go "Oh, ____ based on color. So go with whatever you think will look coolest.
That goes for your mods as well. If you stick a Chaos helmet/head on a Goliath body & think it looks awesome? That's what counts. If someone else thinks he looks dinky or out of porportion? So what? It chaos..

I really like the idea of anti-comformidity painting them all diffrent colors, that would be really fun!

I would like these to be playable most places, but I think your always in danger of people like liking kitbashes. It might be best to stick to chaos space marine bodies, though I really like the chain idea!
