So finally we got the first AoS cartoon. Animation was rough but passable and Hamilcar was an enjoyable character as ever. What's anyone else's thoughts?

I enjoyed it.

Was pretty funny at times. I liked how the music would swell every time he talked about himself, then stop when he expected others to know who he is. Was brutal as well, like the Hobgrot “champion” who faced him first.

I hope to see more, but I think 40K will continue to get the lions share of animation.

Loved it, so much. Spot-on depiction of Hamilcar, and just perfect writing.

Minor detail I really enjoyed was the slight touches of magic in the voices of the Stormcast.

I liked it. It was good fun.

Good to finally get an AoS animation, too.

Good solid fun!

Hammer and Bolter have, in my view, been solid as a series in really nailing the environments and characters and settings. It's great to see them touching on the Mortal Realms like this.

I hadn't read anything Hamilcar was in before and from what I had absorbed through osmosis, I thought he was a Very Serious Character.

I am so glad to have been wrong about that.

Not for me. A bit too silly for my tastes. It actually put me off AoS.

Don't worry. In a year when GW releases the next AoS animation I'm sure there will be a dour story about Nagash or something.

Think they said a Neave Blacktalon story is coming, fwiw.

It was good fun - and very in tune with the character in the stories

It was pretty good. Kinda wish the story had been a bit more complex, but it was decent as an introduction to AoS animation.

Hopefully Black Talon will be great. Aparently Black Talon has Idoneth and Nugle Blightkings in it too, which should be interesting to see.

When will we get it though.
Everything is slow coming.

Though I have enjoyed everything as it arrives at least..

Last year they said next year, which is, like, this year:

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/10/05/your-first-look-at-blacktalon-the-new-series-for-warhammer-age-of-sigmar-coming-to-warhammer-next-year/

Yeah, stuff's only coming slowly. A somewhat worst case scenario is that the first episode releases on December 28, the last Wednesday of the year. That would make GW technically correct, which we all know is the kind of correct to strive for.

Would be nicer to get it in time for the first anniversary of the service, though. That way they could use the show in conjunction with the second year exclusive models to advertise Warhammer+.

I'm fine with slower releases if they keep being good. Generally speaking I'm inclined to give wiggle room simply because W+ just doesn't cost very much.

I'm reasonably relaxed about the amount of animations myself, but I find it hard to overlook the very skewed ratio of 40k to AoS animations. I'm not expecting parity by any stretch, but a little more than one animation after almost a year into the service shouldn't be too much to ask for.
