Seriously, the conversations between the Guard Commander and the Sgt major are enough to make me replay that campaign every time. A Catachan Sgt taking the mickey from an aristocratic Blue blood, and his lackey Commissar, makes me laugh every time. I haven't tried the Nid campaign, but I hear the Ork one is really fun. The Chaos one is likely the same old, same old. Sorcerer Sindri Betrays dumb grunt commander. I wish they'd have included a SoB or Tau sub expansion. Retribution should have been the DoW3.

What did you love best about the campaign, and what am I missing out on?

DoWII is one of the best games. Had a solid story line across the 3 games and some very fun game play mechanics.

For the Guard campaign, if memory serves, the Stormtrooper squad when upgraded turns into an absolute unstoppable monster unit capable of soloing most maps. It's good fun.
The Tyranid campaign is fun too. Give the tyrant either the venom cannon or maybe the devourer (I forget which) and watch him just steam roll everything.
Chaos definitely had some fun builds. Well worth giving their campaign another run through.

The Last Stand to this day remains one of my favourite game modes in any game ever. I should reinstall and play it again.

Haven't played the campaign in years and don't remember much outside of the first few levels of the marine campaign. The Last Stand on the other hand I never stopped playing. There's still plenty of people available to play a pick up game with.
