Getting back into fantasy and miniatures gaming both. All my wargaming (not RPGing) miniatures are based three to a stand, two inches deep by three inches wide.

I'd like to play HOTT, as well as the DBA and DBR rules with the above.

It SEEMS to me, that this is not impossible, and would not require rebasing, only a slight modification to the rules. My thought:

The only thing that seems to matter, in any serious way, where base depth is concerned, is in recoiling, and the only thing that really matters, where DIFFERENT base depths are concerned, is whether one element can catch or escape from the other.

So...

If all the base depths are the same, and the question of catching a recoiling enemy is up, why not just look up the original base depths in the rules?
If the pursuing element is at least as deep as the recoiling element, it catches it. If not, the recoiling element is moved maybe an additional half or quarter inch from the pursuer.

What do you think? Would it make any appreciable difference in an actual game?

Thanks!

Although I have not played HOTT, I an very familiar with DBA.
Shouldn't be an issue as long as the frontages are the same.

It's your table, so whatever works for you is great!
