Silly question, but can you still buy small bags of modelling sand? I am running out of my stock of the old GW sand and would like to find a matching replacement if possible. I am in the UK.

Please do not reply telling me to get sand from the beach or to buy a giant bag of sand from a DIY shop. I have money but no patience and no space.

Thanks!

Just run a search for "Modelling sand" in google and you'll find loads of grades and options to pick from.

It really is just sand fine sifted so just find a fine variation that's up for sale.

Thanks. The one linked looks perfect, and I found it on a Google search before, but several of the reviews on Amazon for it say that it's just poor quality sand that looks nothing like the picture. A lot of the other Google hits also don't seem quite right. So I guess I was hoping to find out what other UK modellers actually use, and where they get it.

It’s probably the same as the sand you put in sand pits, that’s very fine and soft. Buy a bag of that and you’d never run out, £6 for a couple of kg I think

Mentioning aquariums is quite inspiring, you can get lots of funky coloured gravel etc for aquariums that would look good Ona base

I got a bottle of fine sand at the dollar store a couple years ago. About the size of a soda can, next to all the fake flower stuff.
Works great and lasts forever.
