North Star Military Figures

Released November 2022. We'll be offering something special with every pre-order of Xenos Rampant, save your orders for North Star!

Xenos Rampant
SCIENCE FICTION WARGAME BATTLES.
Xenos Rampant is a large skirmish, miniature wargame for fighting science fiction battles using 28mm figures. Developed from popular Lion Rampant ruleset, the core mechanics featured within will be instantly recognisable to those familiar with the other Rampant systems, while still being accessible to new players. Xenos Rampant contains all the rules, army lists, and scenarios required to fight science fiction battles as well as a whole host of subgenres including: raygun gothic, post-apocalyptic, weird war, near future. So, whatever your science fiction preference, the rules can cover it - just let your imagination run rampant.

It'll be my first time to the Rampant rodeo, but I'm just hoping for something thats more streamlined and less fuss than 40K.

Same here. The Rampant games seem so popular I can not help but think they must do something right… but I have not tried them yet.

I've enjoyed both Dragon and Lion Rampant over the years. Nice little set of light rules, that allows players to use whatever they have model wise.

I'm not sure what this version of the rules will bring to the system, I'm guessing it will beore or less the same unit entries, just with more ranged attack options a emphasis.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

Just picked up Lion Rampant 2nd edition. The extra pages in the hardback format really let the game breathe. More scenarios, more sample army lists, lots of alternative and optional rules.

Some of the subsystems worked a bit funny. Ending your turn with a failed activation was always divisive, good to see more options. The morale system is explained more clearly.

So I'm excited for Xenos Rampant. I have the original mod notes somewhere in my library, and I'm happy with how the rules handle big monsters or vehicles conceptually.

What I like about the game engine is still the relative simplicity - choose your list, don't try too hard to build deathstar units and just play.

Sounds really interesting and I can't wait to look into it, but will be hard to get me to adopt it instead of staying with One Page Rules "Grimdark Future". Especially the Skirmish version, "Firefight".

But more minis agnostic rulesets existing is always great, I love them!

My biggest issue with getting people to play Grimdark Future has been a lack of a physical book.

Does anyone know where I might find a review of Xenos Rampant?

I'm curious, but would like to know more...

Yeah, but honestly it's pennies on the dollar to print out the PDF at a Staples. My problem is dragging people away from the GW-churn for a moment.

I'd be interested in Xenos Rampant, but I'm afraid it'd suffer even more so from being "too different from 40K to bother, when I can just play Kill Team".

That is a shame. Not even to give the game a try?

Interesting. GW seems to have gone out of their way to distinguish KT21 from 40k, game wise. But I was once a GW-only guy myself for the first years of my miniatures gaming. So I understand that it’s awfully hard to get others to try new things.

LOL. Oops. That would expand why I didn't find anything.

So you can hit them with it?

Sorry to hear that. I've actually been printing out "only what I need" from a PDF, so I'm only printing out the actual combat rules (one copy for each player), the scenario I'm playing, and army lists I'm using. No need to carry around another coffee-table books for others to get their grubby hands on. Important tables I might print out and mount on cardstock.
