You're being awfully gloomy there. If the month was ticking away, would I have painted Jyn Erso while giving Skurge only a token effort? Would I have spent half of my painting today on a Snowtrooper instead of dedicating all my time to Skurge? Humbug! There's plenty of September left! Plenty!

Nice! We don’t see a lot of crazy quilt/dazzle camo, but it’s always a fun time.

So I cut up my finger and needed stitches (it was home repair and not a hobby accident), since I am not certain when I will be able to paint...I initially went with the Eldar Heavy Weapons...however...

Good news, finger is healing and I was able to finish the Escher.

That's not a gun... THIS is a gun! Escher Plasma gun and some back-up to protect her.

Seconded. I can't even imagine what you'd have to do for a cut finger to need stitches.

Ooft. Not fun. I have had to have hand stitches from a smashed glass jar, not cool at all.

Yikes, hope the finger heals quickly, Cap. Or maybe even mutates into a deviously dexterous painting tentacle.

Nice job on those weapons despite the, uh... 'handicap'?

Opportunity to have a mechantendril fitted, no?

It's finished and I think I'm one step closer to making the orangest orange that I can. Apparently the trick was starting with red as a basecoat. Unfortunately, I need a lighter touch with the airbrush. Use the orange as more of a highlight and let more of the red show through. Oh well, we'll try again later.

Oh wow, that is nice! I'm a big fan of orange. Not really a fan of Tau, but you're paintjob is tempting me to start collecting.

Please no! I have far too many armies and projects as it is!

More red?I think it's a really nice orange.

Agree that it’s a good orange, which is hard to do.

“Orange” has a range, so while this might not be the one you were aiming for, it’s one to be proud of.

Agreed, it's a really rich, warm orange.

Btw, have we had any ideas/options for next month's theme?

There's been various options from the last few months that got votes, just not enough votes... but clearly some people must have liked them / had ideas for them.
Might be worth throwing them in for another try?

Ones that got votes but didn't win:

Lead From The Front
If You Can't Stand The Heat
In It For The Money
In the Name of the Gods
On Wings of Death

Next month is October. It’s fixed for spooky stuff. There might be a title, but it’s the Halloween special.

Next topic vote will be for November.

December is the open round.

Dazzle camo is awesome. One of my dream builds is a dazzle camo gundam kit but I've not quite figured it out yet.

Bad news dwarf fans. Chief is done! He needs a matte varnish and then gloss applying to his visor and the flood areas of the base. I'm semi happy with him. I found it difficult to weather the under suit so I turned to a light grey pigment (I've zero pigment experience) and then used it on the green to keep it all uniform. Not too sure on it but he does look battle worn and ill take small victories on a piece this big since its so out of my wheel house.

Weather permitting I'll take varnish him tomorrow and get some glamour shots done soon after.

So, the yellow mechs weren't getting traction, so I went back to the traditional burrows and badgers stuff:

Just got those done this morning, need to take better pictures though:

Thanks!

The two on the right are Rogue Trader models from 1988: http://solegends.com/citrt2/1st40k/fly198899rt2f1-ffsfx-01.htm. The left one is a more recent release from Wargames Foundry, but like the other two, is a conversion of an old Fiend Factory manfish.

The only time we had a poll for October was the first year. After that it was one of the fixed months. March is “Space Marine”, December is the “Open Round” and October is the Halloween special. There might be a descriptive tag attached, but anything spooky, costumed/dressed up/trick or treating or vaguely in that ballpark is good to go.

If you ever want to see what past comps have been, you can check out my index post. Just updated it this morning.

In painting news just about done with my autarch. Need to base him and put some transfers on the banner.

Indeed, spooky season is up next in October. It's a wide-open theme, anything from nightmare-inducing monstrosities to trick-or-treating Orks can fit in there!

I do like the idea of a runner-up run-off though, we've had a few close polls lately. Perhaps for November's round we'll revist that!

Hi there, I want to Take part too.

My entry ist a Leman Russ Battletank.

Here ist the Proof pic.

While I might get the other guys done, I’m just going to focus my entry on the autarch.
Final:

Just because you walk the Path of Command does not mean you have to stop playing with all the fun toys. No settling for a basic sidearm here. Either a reaper launcher for when things need to die far away, or a fusion gun for close encounters. Both options are tools of destruction that lesser races would be envious of.

I had a lot of fun painting this guy. Nice change of pace from the nids and marines that have been taking up most of my workbench time. I magnetized both arms, but only built/painted the glave for his stabby option. Backpack/guns are mix and match. I suspect most of the time he’ll be flickering around playing hard to get with the missile launcher and the jump pack, but there is something to be said for riding into combat in a Falcon and melting something with hot fusion death.

I think i like the helmet for an Eldar white scheme. It’s what I used when painting SoBs. I’ve got a box of shining spears that will need it. It’s not crisp and clean, but I think the variance you get from contrast paints lean into the organic nature of waithbone.

The rest of him is a mix of my basic craftword scheme of black armor from the guradians and the red robes/sashes that the seers wear.

The Vindicator still needs a lot of work with green stuff and general fixing, the old thing is bend all over.
So I'll make a last minute change to some fire support for my Ravenwing:

Fairly confident I'll get the Attack Bike done in time, ATV isn't too likely though.
