Can I use the Daemon Pact rules to add an Aux detachment of Daemons to a Heretic Astartes list?
I couldn't find anything that specifically excludes that detachment.

It costs the same CPs as a Patrol, but doesn't require I take an HQ, so I was hoping to use it just to add some Pink Horrors for some flavor to a Tzeentch themed list

Of course you can add an auxsupdetachment of one unit of pink horrors to a heretic astartes army. It costs you 2CP and your heretic astartes army loses its pure army special rules like let the galaxy burn, etc.

You cant use the daemonic allies/daemonic pact rule from the chaos daemons codex, because its a detachment ability, and units in an auxsupdetachment never gain detachment abilities. You would need to add a patrol of daemons, those get detachment abilities, and can use the daemonic allies/daemonic pact rule.

Dang, I knew I was missing something. I knew it was gonna cost CPs (but so would the Patrol) but I forgot about Aux not getting detachment rules. I never use Aux detachments

No one uses them, because paying 2CP, not getting detachment abilities, and losing the pure army special rules, is never worth it.

How about summoning in the daemons you want using spare points? We did that before with deathguard wanting things like Epidemus. no cp, no special rules for the daemons and your same marked character has to give up moving. (not sure any of that changed with the new codex, other than edidemus not being great anymore)

Summoning is entirely gone.

Wow so detachments are the only way to mix CSM and Daemons? wow

Yes, but if your Daemons detachment is less than 25% of your army, you don’t loose CSM purity rules.

25% PL not points, this is important. A 2k army can be PL160, or PL100. Which shows the absurdity of PL.
