It's been a while, I've got my hands busy with Epic Warpath and stuff. But I'm hoping to at least undercoat the next batch this week - mostly the 3.0 loadout updates, and the Siege Breaker.

Black Friday starts on the 17th in STL land, I'm pretty excited to pick up all the Saturnine upgrade bits that have popped up.

I’d tell you to get on with it, but I try not to be a hypocrite.

I agree. Good use of a fairly familiar grimdark colour scheme.

Well, mission acomplished then with my scheme. I wanted to go with the dark mech sheme and make it more fitting with the latewar era aka, as stated, sanity went out the window

It’s that perfect balance between “Mechanicum are allowed to do some pretty heinous stuff” and “but I’m not sure that’s right”.

Just the hint that there’s more going on here, and it’s quite probably illegal, without being obviously so.

I mean background wise? The Tech-Thralls are regular humans with a control helmet on. Unable to direct their own body, and horrifyingly fully aware of what that body is doing. And that’s not seen as even slightly naughty by anyone. But here? That nicely understated glow is showing these ones aren’t the same,

I have indeed done the airbrush bit on the Augury squad, Siege Breaker, and the 3 replacement Breachers.

Building a second Rhino for my SoH. I’ve gotten better at modifying the bottom plate - this one went together quite nicely.

And that’s most of today’s work.

Built a Krios Venator, Scorpius, Legion Praetor, Siege Breaker Consul and some Knights Cenobium.

Hobby room is very comfortable to work in!

And the Knights all done. Haven’t bothered with their cloaks though.

Also discovered I most definitely need at least reading glasses. My close up focus is absolutely not what it was.

Got an eye test booked for week after next, and will get that sorted.

Look after your peepers, folks. Spesh when age related focus issues crop up. Longer you leave it, the worse it gets.

The cenobium look so much nicer without the capes.

They’re also fiddly to attach.

Well impressed with how dynamic the models are though.

If you go rogue and start attaching different torsos to legs and give them all the wrong arms you can get some really interesting poses out of them.

Yep, just has the same experience while trying to add tiny rivets to my Mk III models. There's definitely been a loss of focus over the last year or so...

Those Knights have always tempted me, but I have a strong aversion to assembling resin figures. I was planning to convert my own when the new Cataphractii models came out.

What's this! Doc working on resin, never thought I'd live to see the day..

I hope it wasnt that bad? Personally I love working with resin (painting it might be another matter..)

So much prep needed compared to plastic. I only go Resin for characters and special units.

Sensible stance. As an owner of an FW resin brick in the form of a malcador, a very sensible position.

I've got a resin Sicaran Omega and it's an absolute pig of a thing. My initial plan was to convert it a bit to my liking, but that idea went straight out the window once I started fiddling with it. It's not even warped at all, it's just thick, solid chunks of resin that I have little desire to start cutting in to.

It'll either get added, unconverted, to my Luna Wolves, should I get that project off the ground, or maybe end up as terrain.

I'd prefer thick solid chunks over the thin hollow frames of Carnadons/Auroxen.

My Mk II Assault Squad arrived today. Lovely models - far more ‘Heresy’ than the Mk VI Assault Marines. But it’s annoying that some of the tiny rivets that GW insist on putting all over their Heresy Marines were damaged. They’re so small they’re very hard to replace. Maybe GW shouldn’t put this kind of detail on parts of the model that are likely to get damaged in the box.

Sounds like a packing issue, not a sculpting issue tho! It's honestly pretty frustrating that virtually all companies just chuck sprues in a box - often alongside heavy books - and hope for the best.

Oddly, it may be that on average Kickstarter rewards are packed more safely, in the absence of retail packaging I've often had sprues come in individual PVC bags.

True, but if they packed everything properly it would add a lot to the cost. They also need to minimize shelf space. So, given they squeeze the sprues into the smallest possible box size, they should design the model components (and their placement on the sprues) so so they are less vulnerable to damage. Some of my Saturnine Termies had a similar issue - the fine detail on the chest was damaged because it’s exposed to contact with other sprues.
