I guess this is a rules question?

I am building a Doomhammer from the Baneblade kit. The instructions for the Doomhammer show it with a heavy stubber on each side, but its datasheet in the 8th edition codex (I don't have the new one yet) does not have them listed. Does somebody know if this is a mistake in the instructions, or the codex? What does the new datasheet say? Should I build the vehicle with stubbers or not?

I appreciate information! Thank you.

The old rules used to include the 2 Stubbers as an upgrade. Unfortunately if they're not in the new book then you can't take them. It's up to you if you want to build it like that, but it'd just be for show.

I bought a Baneblade kit in 8th before they updated that box and I got an older style black and white instruction booklet. It shows the doomhammer with its magma cannon. You can't tell from the crappy picture but it should also have a twin heavy bolter built into the hull just under the turret (I think all of the variants do).

The picture also shows the tank with two optional sponsons on the front left and front right sides. Each of these has a lascannon on the top turret and twin heavy bolters built into the swivelling part underneath. You can also built them as lascannons with twin heavy flamers.

A Doomhammer can additionally take either a storm bolter or a single heavy stubber. These are pintle-mounted guns that are supposed to stick onto one of the top hatches so that a guy can poke his head out and operate them.

Finally, you have options to take smoke launchers (stubby three pronged tubes that are usually mounted on top of the hull towards the front) and / or a hunter-killer missle (a 'rocket launcher' looking tube that is usually pintle mounted on top of the hull somewhere).

I am not sure what picture you are working from but it sounds like you might be mistaking the lascannons on top of the sponsons for heavy stubbers? Heavy stubbers have very skinny barrels with holes bored into the barrel covering. Lascannons are vaguelly similar but are chunkier, with an angular shroud over the end of the barrel.

The transport variants could take stubbers, but it's not an option in the new codex (comes with one pair of sponsons and may take another pair)

Oh, have Stormlords and Doomhammers lost the transport stubbers?

Bit weird, they are in the kit.

Thanks. That makes my stubber-loving soul sad. :(

You can have a pintle-mounted heavy stubber still right? Just model them on and fluff it that there’s only one gunner who runs between the guns looking for the best angle, so can only fire one at a time.

Always use magnets when building models.

Hang on a sec… are you looking up the right variant? The Doomhammer doesn’t have the transport deck so doesn’t have the stubbers. Should you be looking at a Stormlord for the transport deck and pair of Heavy Stubbers?

The instructions may be wrong, or you could just be looking at the wrong tank.

The Doomhammer, Banehammer, and Stormlord all have the transport deck. The pictures of all three of them in the instructions show the stubbers.

There are three basic BB types -- the ones with the turret, the ones with the big fixed gun, and the ones with a smaller fixed gun and firing deck.

The Dorn comes with one, Russes can be given one (or a Storm Bolter) but it's not an option for the Super-heavies.
