for most of us, this hobby is a large part of our lives and inevitably, it leaks over into other parts. Im curious about times when thats happened to you.

I'll go first:

at work, we have a notoriously unreliable truck we sometimes use. It has a temperamental battery, it struggles to start when its cold, takes like 10 seconds of ignition to catch, etc.

So, one cold morning, i walk over to this truck to get it ready. Just as i am about to turn the key, i full on, out loud, invoke "Sprit of this machine, HEED MY WILL!" , and turned the key....the engine caught almost instantly. I was full on giggling to myself in geek glee for about 10 minutes afterward, much to the confusion of my co-workers.

so, anyone else got a similar or better story?

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

I unironically chased a police officer down a street (yelling at the guy to halt him) all the way up to his car and then went to the station to confront him there aswell.

(corrupt officer)

I know how badass that sounds and I am still suprised myself of that having actually happened.

I channeled my inner Guardsman and killed a deer with a single shot from. BB gun (actually a pellet gun shooting bb's). I didn't know it was fully pumped up and shot the deer in the chest.

Best to be sure, that deer could've called reinforcements .. making you have to fight off a dozen wildwood rangers.

It is an oath we honour. I did have to accept a box of human remains as a postal delivery once. That was an odd day.

Then I had to wash my hands, as the package had been roughed up a bit on its journey from Florida and the ashes were seeping out. I didn't even realized what they were until I turned the box over and saw 'human remains' stamped on the top of the box. Yeah, the US Postal Service has an (ink) stamp for that.

[I was doing contract work at a national park with an attached military cemetery, and was the only person in the building, and it absolutely had to be signed for. Fired a DshK Heavy Machine gun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DShK) from the hip while having the belt draped over my shoulder. (Needed two hands to lift the frigging thing, it weighed over 40lbs and was unwieldy as hell. Basically attempted to fire an Auto cannon from the hip on full auto. Burned my hand and gouged my neck where the rounds snagged.
