The people complaining are fake fans who only know what they hear in You Tube explainer videos.
1.5 Pepes out of 10; much better attempts at humor earlier in the thread. Also, if you really thought that then you wouldn't be deadnaming so I see through your deception!
In all seriousness, I'm glad they came out with the bluray as I haven't been able to stream it anywhere as part of my current subscriptions (though I have since found out it might be part of Apple+ but I'm not on that service). I'm actually a bit excited to rewatch the series and see what special features they have. I'll torn between going chronologically or starting with the swamp virgin episodes instead.
Automatically Appended Next Post: LORDS OF LIGHT!
Well, I watched the first episode and it doesn't disappoint (whether for nostalgia or the lulz). The blurays basically only have a single special feature which is up on youtube for years so no big deal there unfortunately. The animation is crisp and clean (and obviously in 4:3 aspect ratio given the era it was made) with all the Hanna-Barbara 70s asthetics you could ask for. Obviously the show was written for children but some of the dialog really deserves special attention for its richness and complexity. Paraphrased slightly...
Ariel: Aren't you worried about what sort of power the black crystal holds?
Thundarr: Don't worry. Be happy.
Ariel: My mind is at ease.
or
Thundarr: Keep your eyes open. The wizard Gemini's stronghold could be anywhere!
Ookla: RARARARRR! *points to the only intact massive building complex in the swamp with working exterior lighting*
Lol. Also, Ookla definitely has the best (sea?)horse of the bunch. The first episode also raises deep philosophical questions like why the ratmen tribe of the swamp (the groundlings) that walk in knee deep muck most of the day all wear matching tan pristine leather gloves. Are they provided by the evil wizard Gemini along with the classic Indian motorcycles? I also can't help but think that the Thundarroverse cinematic universe is connected to the universe of Snake Plisskenoverse given the state of NYC in both. It just makes sense.. almost as much sense as the leader of the manhattites wearing a lampshade on his head as a symbol of his office. I feel we should incorporate this in the modern era as well. Finally, why does an animated show have a location director in the credits? Did he actually travel to Manhat in 3994? If so, can I come with next time?
