This. It literally looks cheaply bolted on, like babies' first conversion. It makes no sense in the context of the model, totally ignores the suggestion that there are some working mechanisms and stuff under the random plate it's bolted to, and in consequence makes the model look more like a toy than a 'scale model' that looks like it could work at least on a passing glance.

Yes, but the Redemptor was already a mess with too many guns. This abomination is just a boxdread but worse.

Id expect 99% of people will get far more value out of a new dreadnought sprue than a flat square of plastic to put on the generally unseen bottom of a tank.

As opposed to yet another mediocre primaris model that nobody was asking for?

I can quarantee these marines will sell more kits than dorn would have got more sales with bottom sprue&price hike.

As is dorn complains are just from usual troublemakers who complain just for sake of complaining. If gw would make all rules and models free they would complain then as well.
I
It's just complaining for sake of complaining and because complaining is cool. And youtubers get clicks for profit,

The small group makes lots of noice complaining as usual and majority just laugh "look at kids pretending to be cool"

Its good to now have 2 dreads with several options each.

The new lizardmen are all wins. Just hope they rank up on square bases.

The arbites look great, hoping we get rules to use them in Necromunda.

The primaris stuff is so bad, close combat dread covered in guns. T-shirt launching heavies! The decent into saturday morning cartoon derp continues apace.
But the multi part lieutenant seems like a nice kit.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

I think just mixing them in with proper (Primaris) devastators could save them.

It's a real shame that they've compromised their designs in a desperate effort to distinguish Primaris from Firstborn. If they had given us Primaris Devastators it would have been a great success, everyone would have been happy. Instead we get these. Jes Goodwin marines really were peak 40K, most deviations are strict downgrades.

Jes is still GW's lead 40k concept artist. All the primaris stuff comes from his sketches. They are very much his design. The only reason he isn't a sculptor any more is because he can't use computers.

None of the previewed models stand out to me personally as a win asthetically. The Yo Dawg primaris are definitely the losers in the bunch though.

It would probably look much better with a missile rack in the style of a havoc/cyclone launcher.

Just having the smaller dual missile pods mounted over the shoulders while wielding normal heavy bolters, rotary cannons or whatever would look much, much better and would also recall the classic Warlord titan outline, making for an overall more 'imperial' look.

It shouldn't be surprising. If you don't care about AoS the 40k stuff was all pretty weak. Maybe the arbites were ok (though not my thing personally) but the missile marines are horrible, the new dread is another bland and pointless primaris marine nobody asked for, the HQ is yet another primaris lieutenant to join the 999999 we already have, the DE are a pretty bland and unimaginative standard kill team sprue, and the Cerberus is the same tank we already had but in a worse material. Oh, and I guess technically there's a new starter set if you somehow don't have enough marines already, but who cares about that. All the 40k stuff is a masterclass in phoning it in.

Agreed. I can appreciate some nice models for AOS and its various spin off games but it's not my personal focus so the models have to shine for them to stand out for me. These were competent remakes but nothing special but the entire reveal presentation was really soured by the poster children for the biggest game, the 40k primaris, being such a meme.

Not that my opinion counts for much but...

Seraphon - I really like, and as others have said, I hope they fit on square bases and rank up.

Arbites - Look good, but is that dog attached by a flimsy lead to the handler and they're on seperate bases? Have fun moving that in game.

Primaris - Just no. Looks like GW are 'Final Fantasying' 40k with the silly weapon sizes.

Horus Heresy - Meh. Just want those plastic jetbikes to be released and bring assault/jetpack troops out.

My Painting Blog: http://gimgamgoo.com/
Currently most played: Silent Death, Xenos Rampant, Mars Code Aurora and Battletech.
I tried dabbling with 40k9/10 again and tried AoS3 - Nice models, naff games, but I'm enjoying HH2 and loving Battletech Classic and Alpha Strike.

Redemptor looks pretty cool, and looks to have a really usefull loadout. The option to give a dreadnought dual ccw and loads of shooty stuff on the "hull" should not have taken 10 000 years to figure out.

The only thing missing is a snarling mutated wolf-face looking out from the "sarcophagus" ,in my oppinion

Particular take away here is the joy of a multi option Marine model.

I know a couple of other recent character kits had options, so I’m hoping this is signalling a return to that preferable style.

The word you're actively avoiding using for the Devastator, and which definitely differentiates between them and this Primaris disaster Marine, is "functional".

We can look at a Devastator with a Missile Launcher, and understand broadly how it is meant to work in the "real world".

These ones? Not so much.
