Well seeing they fill 32mm round you will need 32mm square. 25mm square and legs well over.

Of course no quarantee tow has old base sizes and odds are no.

Cold ones.

Better cold ones.

Oh please better cold ones.

I've got to say I like the big idiot missile launchers. They are dumb as hell and that's why they are good. Belt fed mini missile rotary gun under a big one? Why the hell not.

I just poked around looking into the history of cold ones. They’ve had some ups and downs.

The original metals, shared by skink riders and cold one knights, were nasty looking customers. Limited by the tech/materials of the day, but nice dinos
The DE “upgraded” to the derpasaurus version, which looked literally fat and stupid. To be fair, they did have the Stupid trait. I don’t think anyone liked this sculpt. Not sure if Lizardmen ever got to ride this version.
The Saurus Knights Cold Ones still look they are taking some penalty in the brains department, but at least look like they know how to bite you. Could be better
Drakespawn Knights are everything you’d want out of ferocious war lizard. Those things look mean and well done. Lovely Cold Ones.
Spoiler:

(I couldn’t find a good pic of the derp knights on SoL, but here are 2 pulling a chariot)

Oh you know what would rock ... a mazdamundi model with a new larger stegadon and extra parts to make it like a venerable stegadon or something with its own rules etc.

When will 40k players finally see new termies?

Regarding cold ones, yes .. when I started warhammer .. 6e, the Saugus rode the cold ones that looked the same as the dark elf ones. And yes they had the stupid trait.

Horrible models and then, the new cold ones during lustria I believe, as above that maybe looked even worse.

The de ones do look good.

I still prefer the first plastic derpasaurs to what the lizardmen ended up with. (Before that, I recall there was a White Dwarf unit entry and conversion guide for cold one mounted saurus)

IIRC the latest DE cold ones came before the lizardmen versions? That's what was most shocking. When the saurus cav was released it was like Charlie Gordon losing everything he had gained. I can't imagine seraphon won't get updated cold ones this time around, with so much else getting redone. I refuse to believe it.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

They had some charm. I wouldn’t say they were horrible, but the general consensus at the time IIRC was not the best, and a step down from the old metals. But different war lizards for different folks I guess. You go ahead and like those lovable old derps.

People forget the advantages of square bases. 25mm squares give you 35mm of posing space, and I notice the seraphon are still posed in a dynamic, angle friendly way to fit facing correctly on a square.

Hell, they were already in 9th ed through the Hammerfall Bunker, though I'm not suprised people didn't know that thanks to how unused that POS is.

I'll also be none too surprised if the Desolators keep S10 on the Superkraks.

Why do people hold rifles like a rifle? Because it’s easier to aim. So why don’t they hold missile launchers like that? Because of weight and bulk. Well if you’re a super strong warrior wearing armor that further amplified your strength, the weight and bulk become less of an issue. So yeah, I don’t really have a problem with the T shirt cannons.

I agree that they deserved something more distinguished to go with their primarisizing. The names should have been faux Latin'ed up for added emphasis as well as trademarkabilitiy. Like the latin word for superior instead of super.

I definitely agree. I just think the models would have looked better if it wasn't the two weapons mashed together like that. Either the bigger missile launcher, or the smaller belt fed one, but both together is a bit much visually.

Still has mass (and bulk). Doesn't matter what your 'strength score' is, you can't wave increasingly massive things around like a candy bar.

Danged physics!

Also, a properly designed shoulder fired weapon can be just as accurate as a "rifle" type weapon. While avoiding those pesky "physics problems".

Another reason I'm eager to see any new cold ones, and one of the few good things of GW switching to AoS: they don't have to keep figuring out how to rank up all that scale creep on 20mm, 25mm, or 25x50mm bases, and hurting the designs in the process.

The OG OG cold ones are great. Not trying (and failing) to be dinosaurs, just weird monsters straight from a 1970s I-wanna-be-Frank-Frazetta fantasy paperback cover. Grudgingly, as much as I miss the cod-Tolkien feel of the old world, I'll admit that's another interesting thing about AoS, coming up with more strange creatures.

Something the excellent paint work on the current cold one cavalry conceals is just how bad those sculpts are. Some of the softest detail on any GW sculpt I have experienced.

The dark elf ones though, those have me scratching my head because of their insanely well sculpted detail. I do not feel it is an exagerration to say the steeds (though definitely not the riders) were 10-20 years ahead of their time. The textures are extremely crisp; every single one of those scales is easily distinguishable even before they see any paint. It is a level of casting quality I did not see outside of resin until End Times, and even brand new releases from this year are at best matching it.

The design and posing of the sculpt underneath it is decent but very much in line with the times, but very much uplifted by the skin over the top of it.

Cocaine chickens skill have my vote though!
