That's cool man because it was actually my kids finding my old models during COVID that got me back into the hobby.
We played 3rd again for a few months, then after checking out the core rules I made the jump to 9th. I like the core rules overall better than 3rd though I understand there is plenty of room for making an over powered list.
Not worried about that. I learned about overpowered lists when I was a kid watching Tyrion butcher some 100+ orc and goblin models single handedly. Lesson learned, strive for balance and make the games fun.
Now a days, the kids like orky racing mini games, Combat Cards (the 90's version) and some silly wrath and glory games. Usually orky nonsense.
I save the war gaming for the older members of the extended family and co workers.
They also read some of the Warhammer Adventure kids books and really liked them. I originally was skeptical of how you could make warhammer kid friendly but you definitely can.
(BTW Spoiler: Attack of the Necron. Best part was this bully kid getting vaporized by a Necron...shocking but awesome). My son's reaction. "I don't really feel sorry for that kid. He was mean." LOL
