Got a pack of the sold separately Mission Cards yesterday, not the ones out of the Leviathan Box, and when I went to use them today I found two of the cards are misprinted. One of the Defender Secondary cards has the Gambit backing, and one of the Mission Special Rule cards has the Primary Mission backing. Kind of annoying to have a couple of marked cards in a deck you’re to draw randomly from.

I would suggest returning it as defective stock if it really bothers you.

You could always just sleeve them. I'd recommend it any way to save them from excessive wear and tear.

I did sleeve them, but being a more odd tarot size all the sleeves we carry are clear. Only the standard and Japanese size sleeves get colors or art prints.

I had the same issue. I emailed GW customer support, we'll see how it goes.

They released an errata for the datasheet cards before they released the datasheet cards. That can't have helped sales.

Good joke, they will be recycling paper within 6 months. Three of them are already invalid, they have already been changed in the tournament companion pdf.

Apparently there has been a product recall for these: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/1920/809413.page#11562161

It is kind of a hard thought, to play a game of w40k in 10th without the deck. It isn't some extra mode or secondary game system, people skip. You play match play, you need the cards.

Goonhammer has an app that let's you play without cards. However, I've not tried playing a Gambit with its app and unsure about that particular function.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Annoying, but is it really the worst thing in the world? Could be the printer's fault, IIRC GW outsource the printed publications to another firm.

Did anybody claim that it was the worst thing in the world?

And even if it is the printers' fault, so what? It's still another GW printed product which is error-struck.

My LGS got a notification that GW would pay for refunds of this product. So everyone can go do that.

That is not a world wide thing.

GW has classically been very good with customer support and dealing with defective products. If you got a bad set, give them a call.

There's no precedent for this though!

side question, does the main rulebook contain all the information needed so as to avoid the cards?

or do the cards have information not in the main book?

Main missions are not in the rulebook, just the 1-on-1 mission, combat patrols ones and Crusade ones.

But, older rulebooks have missions, just use them for friendly games.

face-desk

they have actually stuck out the main honky heavy rulebook and not included the actual missions...

still, on the plus side it saves me bothering to buy it

so have the first set in the book, so those who care little for "rotation" actually have a base set of scenarios to play, and can be used as examples of how they work?

that main rulebook is not cheap, to find its missing a reasonably important part of the game, a part that is sold separately, and printed incorrectly, is somewhat rubbish

I'm sure that by now you can find a PDF of the cards.

Or just use the Crusade/Patrol missions in the book.

Out of the two mission pack is the one you shoula get anyway. Rulebook is more of luxury item.

Also randomizing all without cards and keeping track of discarded ones would be rather inconvenient without cards.

Evidently, it's not a misprint on all packs--just a certain batch (none of the ones in Leviathan box sets seem to have been affected). So you may get a set that will be fine.

GW is covering refund costs for ones purchased at FLGS, so they don't take a hit. Evidently there will be a reprint, but no timeline as of yet.

It's possible to work with the misprinted cards, if you have opaque back sleeves (thanks for non-standard sizing, GW), but not using the cards would be more difficult unless you printed your own, as the system assumes you discard (non-fixed) missions as you achieve them, and other steps that require you to 'put aside' particular options in some situations. I wasn't going to try, as the backs make it easier to sort the cards into each 'sub-deck', so preparing them for a game is quicker with the proper card backs.

That’s why I’ve iterated it’s the Sold Separately packs that have the misprints. A better way to fix them might be to try and get your hands on multiple bad packs, as they don’t all have the same misprints. My first pack had the defender’s secondary deck with a gambit back on one, but a later pack we looked at had the attacker’s wrong instead. They both had the same error with the mission special rule card.

I went ahead and returned mine, and I’ve Ebayed a set from the Leviathan box along with the Leviathan book, which I almost did initially.
