There's a nice overview of the single storey house over at https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2023/10/30/review-great-escape-games-old-west-building/ that includes images of the test sprues along with some useful comparison shots.

Nice, it spoils two storey price at 32 GBP

I think the price may already be listed in the stretch goals.

Have to say I'm very tempted by this, I was already impressed by the initial building but the two storey version is even better. Very interested to see what they do next in terms of building kits if the campaign is successful.

Those are massive, modular and very reasonably priced, it's actually heavily competitive even when compared to PLA 3D printed buildings.

In printing terms, you'd probably only get 2 buildings out of a 1kg spool that costs around the same as a single storey building. Then factor in layer lines and other quality issues (thin window frames tend to string and suffer heat creep), time spent printing (can often be a month of print time to get a good table going), printer maintenance etc. and all things considered I think buying the sprues is probably the better bet.

The MDF stuff already out there is fairly good, but this is a huge step up from that, the planks are detailed and angled, detailed roofing etc. All makes a big difference.

I’d be interested in working out the MDF building prices vs these (both KS price and regular), to see what could be done cost wise for a whole board.

I don’t know any mdf companies in particular, as of yet, for comparing.
And yeah I guess price wise 3D printing won’t be better unless you have your own printer maybe.

TTCombat are probably a pretty good one for UK:

The plastics are specifically designed to go together witht the pre-painted 4Ground MDF kits, which Great Escape still makes. The 1-story buildings are £32.25, 2-story for £61.00. The TTCombat stuff is much cheaper, at the cost of being far less detailed and unpainted.

The guys running the KS did a Facebook Live the other night, sounds like large square buildings (saloon, etc) are in the works, but a lot of the one-off things will never be in plastic like water towers and trains.

Thanks for that link, nice seeing the side-by-side with the Perry American Store. "Great Escape Games goes for more of a heroic scale compared to Renedra. And far more sturdy, clearly heavier and less hassle to build." I had planned to get a few Perry buildings. I built one and decided against any more. They're sturdy enough, but "hassle to build" is an understatementt

Is header the part where the name of the business goes? Having a second variant of that is what I most care about.
YES!

I PLA printed a two storey house of the same footprint as Great Escape's, for a bit shy of half a spool, so under 10€. I am still investing heavily into this KS for all the other reasons you mentioned (wood is pretty forgiving for layer lines tho). Maybe I CAD up some resin printable pieces compatible with the plastics, like more headers or bigger balconies.

An additional 5 minis were unlocked for the starter, for a total of 20, and you can choose the ratio of men vs women.

That is definitely sweet, and it should be easy to sci fi up with the Medge terrain sprue.

The buildings look fantastic, and would be a great excuse for me to build the rest of the table that this building was intended for... Plast Craft went out of business, and I don't particularly want to use MDF for it, so these are just what the doctor ordered.

Sadly the dentist ordered a root canal, so I'm going to have to wait for retail on this one...

This is awesome as always.

Very inspiring for Space Cowboys and such.

That two storey building really is very nice indeed and that scatter terrain sprue is going to be so useful.

The scatter sprue indeed is incredibly useful and I think I'll add a few to my pledge. And then the two-story building of course. Those are pretty necessary. Especially to make a nice saloon.

Everything in this image is hard plastic!

(in fact I think it's all just the starter pledge + one 2-story house)

I said I would resist another genre. Over and over again. But this KS is sorely tempting me.

Wild West straddles that perfect line between fictional and historical where you're not tied down by either historical accuracy or intellectual property so one set of models lets you play any ruleset and these range from ultra gritty to pure pulp movie logic. Top of my list to try are Dracula's America and Warhammer Legends of the Old West.

First edition of the game had it set more as a WW movie than actual historical. Were rules for falling off the balconies if you got shot while on one or a roof.

Walls look thick enough you could embed magnets in them to add hardpoints. Use them for proper wild west terrain or plop on some magnatized greeblies for Star Wars or 40K or Wild West Exodus etc. Could probably do the same with signs.

I'm glad they added the 2story buildings even though we're abit off from it, was debating dropping and waiting for retail, instead I added 2 buildings and the acrylic tokens.
